It doesn't mean he had it for awhile, there are so many factors. There are people who can go a total of 10 years after being diagnosed and never take 1 HIV medication.

As far as alleged males, they might keep quiet cause it hurts their status and they won't have access to anymore famous people. Its not a coincidence we don't have more Karrine Steffens writing about rappers, politicians, church leaders, movie stars. Notice those books are not very common.
