He's just not a fan of the swing that many of those style beats have. Swing is purposefully off-beat. but it's done in taste style. It's not that it doesn't work in a battle, it just depends on the people judging, if they understand that swing lane they may find it appealing and vote for it. Music is truly one of those subjective things there's no right or wrong.

I've noted that people have an issue with my 1 minute battle beats, but that's because I'm from a different school of thought, they may judge it based off of making a full song, but that's not what I consider a beat battle. When I hear "beat battle" I instinctively think 45 seconds to a minute, not a full song; so with my battle beats I make sure to provide everything in that one minute and if the people don't vibe with it, then so be it. If people aren't used to that style of production they will say "it's too short", etc. Not at all I just made it for what I consider a beat battle to be. But in terms of the coli the beat battles we have, they are considered full song instrumental battles with no time limit, as opposed to regulated beat battles with time limit ramifications, so it's a different school of thought. I say all that to say these are indeed 2 different beats, and depending upon who's listening to them will affect how they see it. It's not necessarily that you can't use that "Swing" style in a battle it's just a matter of does the person listening rock what you present or not.

I feel ya The live beat battles I've been to, at the most participants got about 2 minutes for their beat. It's kind of setup like a rap battle on stage. Even when Timbo, swizz, alchemist and just blaze had their little competition, they went through 1 to 2 minute medleys :manny:. Online it is different though mainly because folks have the leisure of listening on their own time imo/that's where having a longer beat can be beneficial, it's cool either way to me. Some of best beats of all time (interlude or full track) have only been 2 minutes or so and some have been over 20 minutes:mjgrin:

Both of these beats are dope, I equally dig lowfi stuff as well as the alternative, Mararishi does it about as well as some of the top guys at this moment. His beat is in sync to me it just needs an emcee over it like maybe Blue to get the full picture of the production. Q's beat is a banger overall/fits a battle mode well/and would work with a more versatile group of emcees

Yeah at Battle of the Beatmakers you get 45 secs and then they cut the music.Istandard beat battles are a minute, and then the National Beat battle association will give you a minute.

most producers are hurt because they build there stuff up in a song format and then they end up losing and trying to figure out what happened. It's definitely an adjustment. But I can understand the song format for online being preferable to many, after all records are the goal. I just think differently when I hear the word "battle" since that's what i'm doing much of the year. It's similar to cats doing the slam dunk contest,or home run dirby. Most athletes don't want to do that because it messes up their form during the year.

That's a good point. Combined with that I bet it's even tougher for cats that run into time issues/cant make beats as often. I guess it would help to have a stash until one can get the blade back sharpened.

At the end of the day its the Coli beat battle where nikkas been doing it the Coli way for almost 10 years. The way battles are played out anywhere else don't matter here.
definitely it's a different platform I respect it regardless, everyone has there preferences. I just have to make my battle style work for both and if it falls short that's okay.
