I'm with you that the xbox is better than the dreamcast, but this is simply not true.

Counter-Strike on the xbox was garbage too.

I thought it was decent and I guess it comes down to a matter of opinion, like how I left off the racing games that many peeps raved about that were exclusives.... But I hate racing games.... Like it kills me when peeps say games like ACreed are repetitive and it makes them bad. My question is what games are more repetitive than racing games?

Dreamcast blows Xbox 1 out of the fukking water. Xbox was Microsoft's first console so they had to deal with the shytty first party/exclusive library that comes with the territory. While Dreamcast was Sega's final console and they brought some heavy hitters with their experience, etc. etc. Only PS2 was in DC's league in that gen when it comes to games.

niccas burn games like crazy on XBox 360 and it is still a successful console.


Dreamcast's problem was that PS2 came out and stole its shine.

The PS2 built in DVD player is what killed the DreamCast.

The XBOX was the first one to do online gaming well on consoles, this is not even debatable.

The LCD controller was the first and last since 1999...there is a reason that nobody has tried to shoehorn it in there since. We will see what the Wii U can do with their new gimmick.

The Browser was wack.

The XBOX:
First to come with a hard drive
First GOOD online console experience
First controller setup and franchise that showed that FPS can indeed be done on consoles

The XBOX had better hardware and vision for the future. The dreamcast had better games.

well of course a lambo is better than a model t ford... but dreamcast still did it first.. its a lot harder to come up with and invent something then it is to take someone else's idea and build upon it.

but i really came in here to reply to that FPS line..... i think the n64, goldeneye and perfect dark would like to have some words with you

I LOVED the Dreamcast, still own one, and I still use Dreamcast emulators occasionally. With that said The Xbox is the superior system.


Yes Dreamcast had the sports games, Soul Caliber, Power Stone, Shenmue, Jet Grind, and Marvel vs Capcom 2.

But the Xbox had Halo 1&2, KOTOR I&2, Ninja Gaiden, Jade Empire, Panzer Dragoon Orta, and Project Gotham Racing 1&2.

Not to mention the internal hard drive and the ability to have custom soundtracks.

Another reason Dreamcast failed was because games could be burned for the system. Not a huge reason why it failed but still.

u really think the original xbox was better than dreamcast?...think about the scope of what it offered when it dropped that's basically standard now...online console gameplay...the damn Xbox bit the fukk outta the Dreamcast controller design....web browser...the 2k games...not to mention all the classics that came out for it...the ease of burning games and playing on the system..the screen in the memory card and playable memory card with mini games on it...the beautiful games at the time...the only system in that gen that was legit better was PS2 imo...and I like the OG Xbox better than the 360 honestly...I still play my modded xbox a whole lot...so im not hatin...like someone else said....the Xbox was basically Dreamcast 2....I really wish Sega could get back into the console game....Imagine what they would cook up...

they are holding on to this extremely short run the dreamcast had...the xbox was better.

If Dreamcast had stuck around longer...this wouldn't be debatable. I prefer the Dreamcast exclusives for sure (don't sleep on Evolution the rpg too)...but Xbox had a lot more longevity to build its catalogue so it's close as hell.

Side note: the Xbox is pretty much as close as we'll ever get to a Dreamcast 2. Microsoft learned a lot from working with Sega on the Dreamcast and used those lessons in the Xbox.
