No. 1 Sweat recaps FSU official
Defensive end Josh Sweat (Chesapeake, Va./Oscar Smith) said he’s still considering Florida State, Ohio State, Georgia and Virginia Tech with three official visits down and one to go.

Sweat has been to FSU, Ohio State and Georgia for official visits and has one to go, to Virginia Tech, this weekend.
Sweat flew from Norfolk, Virginia to Charlotte, North Carolina to Tallahassee, Florida Friday by himself for his Florida State official visit.
He arrived late and didn’t do much that night. Sweat said he had an action-packed Saturday.
The day included plenty of eating and talking with the coaches while walking around campus and seeing the Seminoles defeat Boston College, 20-17, in Doak Campbell Stadium.
His area recruiter for Florida State, Seminoles defensive ends coach Sal Sunseri, met with Sweat delivering his own personal message.
“We’re pretty close,” Sweat said of Sunseri. “I like him a lot. We went over the schemes they run. How I would play some outside linebacker and mostly have my hand in the dirt as a pass rusher. I see that they are missing that now. I don’t see them having that (pass rusher) right now.”
Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher reiterated a lot of the same things when Sweat met with him in his office during the exit interview.
“He said he would love to have me there,” Sweat said of Fisher. “He told me all the good (things) I could do there and that they have a plan for me.”
Seminoles freshman wide receiver Travis Rudolph served as Sweat’s player-host. Sweat said he mostly hung out with Seminoles track star Michael Cherry, who grew up across the street from him in Virginia and attended the same high school.
“He’s the one that told me I was going to be good before anyone else did,” Sweat said of Cherry. “In seventh grade he was telling me that before I even knew.”
Sweat said the people are “excellent” at Florida State and that he “had a lot of fun.”
“I had a good time but at the same time I saw the things they do to prepare to be successful,” Sweat said.
Sweat suffered a season-ending injury, a dislocated left knee, September 19.
He met with a trainer and surgeon while on his Florida State official visit.
“They told me what I have to do,” Sweat said. “We did an anti-gravity deal on a treadmill where you are moving and it’s only 20-percent of your body weight. All of the colleges I’ve been to has had that.”
Sweat, meanwhile, continues to rehab daily, both at his school and at a local hospital. He feels he should return to 100-percent by March.
The early enrollee has one focus in mind for next fall.
“Not to redshirt, that’s the only plan,” Sweat.
The 6-foot-5, 240-pounder officially visited Georgia two weekends ago. His mother and sister joined him on the visit.
“I had a great time there, too,” Sweat said of Georgia. “I didn’t get to go out anywhere with the players. There was a lot of traffic, literally like a 30-minute wait between some lights.”
This weekend, Sweat will take his final official visit to Virginia Tech. It’s a spot he’s been to many times unofficially.
“This time I’m just hoping to have fun,” Sweat said. “I want to go out with the players after the game. I know I’ll mostly be hanging out with Jaylen Bradshaw.”
Bradshaw, who also played at Chesapeake, Va./Oscar Smith, is a freshman receiver for the Hokies.
Sweat plans to bring seven family members this weekend with him.
Sweat said to not look too deep into that facet.
“It’s not like I can bring all of them when I go to school,” Sweat said. “If it was up to me I would go on all of the visits by myself.”
He said he doesn’t plan to do any in-home visits when the open period begins next week.
Sweat plans to announce his college choice at Oscar Smith’s gymnasium in a press conference setting a week or two following this weekend’s final official visit.
The Crystal Ball reads 39-percent for Virginia Tech, 36-percent for Florida State, 14-percent for Georgia, eight-percent for Ohio State and three-percent for Tennessee.
The five-star recruit is ranked as the nation’s No. 1 overall recruit, the No. 1 recruit in the state of Virginia and the No. 1 weakside defensive end in the 2015 class by 247Sports.com Composite Rankings.
