Lol...he gassed up all those dumb bubble-dwelling Republicans into believing Willard would win, then they felt like they were lied and got pissed and stopped watching.

Memo you missed: he's been lying to you since day one...about everything.

LOL. True that. A governing principle in the relationship between the elites on the right and their base, is a sense of contempt leadership has for their followers. The elites are fully aware that they preaching to a not-so-bright constituency that disfavors logic, reason, and empirical study, in favor of faith and emotion. This is clear in how they craft their collective message --- from politicians, to pundits.

But its one thing to explain away something like a text message, or an unfamiliar pair of panties to a dumb partner --- its a whole 'nother thing to explain getting caught in the act of banging someone right in front of their eyes. Hannity fans could explain away the bullsht he promotes daily through whatever intellectual, or psychological wiggle room they could imagine, but this time even the dumbest 'neck knows he or she was lied to here. Hannity Rove, Morris, etc explicitly promised a Romney victory --- and an easy one at that. They took the contempt of their fans too far, and blatantly insulted them. They'll prolly be back soon, once they get over it. Hannity's message is too psychologically comforting to racists.

Sean Hannity Ratings Plummet, Loses Half His Viewers After Election

Sean Hannity Ratings Plummet, Loses Half His Viewers After Election

Sean Hannity’s ratings have plummeted after the 2012 election, as the conservative television host saw his audience dwindle after GOP challenger Mitt Romney failed to unseat President Obama.

Hannity saw his audience fall by about 50 percent after the election ended. Though it was not entirely unexpected that Hannity’s ratings would drop after the biggest political event in the last four years, his decline was sharper than other conservative pundits, Salon noted. Bill O’Reilly saw his viewership drop by only about one-third.

Among the important demographic of viewers aged 25-54, Sean Hannity’s ratings were even worse. More than half of what is known as the “money demo” stopped watching.

Many believe that Sean Hannity’s ratings suffered as a result of his failed rhetoric. Throughout the election, he hyped up Mitt Romney’s chances to win the election, seizing on the Republican’s strong performance in the first presidential debate to all but call the election.

From the New York Daily News:

“So what happened to Hannity?

“The going wisdom is that viewers who basked in his preelection anti-Obama rhetoric tuned him out when they were stunned to wake up on Nov. 7 and discover that the President had won a second term — a scenario that Hannity had all but promised could never happen.

“Before the election, Hannity was riding high in the ratings and topped thought leaders on the right, like dikk Morris, Ann Coulter, Peggy Noonan and talk radio bulldog Mark Levin, who predicted Obama would lose in a landslide.”

As his ratings dropped, Sean Hannity also saw himself the center of attack from the right. Outspoken actor Ed Asner in early December claimed that Hannity was “behind on his rabies medicine.”

Fox's audience is old as fukk. They're going to eventually die off and the younger, more perceptive viewers won't fall for their bullshyt as easily as the naive old folks who don't know what's going on. That's when Fox will fall off. It's going to take a while though. They will probably adapt at that point, but they will lose what makes them Fox and be just another mainstream media network.

Hannity was hilarious this whole past election season...evey week he had another "huge bombshell" that was going to rock the electorate and then he would reveal some nonsense that no one cared about.
I am curious to know what his ratings were before the general election, how much they went up during the race and if the drop has taken him back to pre-election numbers or if he has fallen even lower than where he was this time the year before.

I agree. There is something about him that really grates my nerves. I can listen to Rush, Orilley, even Beck and at the very least enjoy their shows from an entertainment perspective. I can't do the same for Hannity. I can only take his whiny little voice for a few minutes before i want to throw my remote at the TV or turn the dial on the Radio. I think it's because Hannity's show lacks any sense of levity or entertainment factor outside of venting feelings of anger and resentment. It's also the show most likely to carry water for the Republican establishment. Very rarely will Hannity call out the establishment.
