Seagate Backup Plus 2TB Desktop USB 3.0 External Hard Drive (Black) | Staples®

http://slickdeals.net/f/5593854-Seagate-Backup-Plus-2TB-Staples-Back-in-Stock-46-AC

This one may take a little work, but it's worth it. It's an online only price, and it's out of stock online, but if you have a Staples near you, you may be able to get one. The trick from Slickdeals is to reserve for instore pickup so you have the price in your email just in case the manager wants to bytch about price matching the site since it says online only. You can also print the page but collapse the Special Buy section on the left so that it only shows the price.

The reviews aren't amazing, but I think it's largely due to the enclosure rather than the drive itself. I got 2 of these drives a few months ago and popped the drives out to use as internal drives and they've been great.

I reserved 2 for in store pickup and they are ready already. Will stop before work and give a quick update with the results.

Nice, interesting they had these at $99 most of the holiday, guess they didn't sell like they wanted them to, $46 is a steal for these even if you buy and just hold on to it, Seagate is a great brand for storage

I got them a couple of months ago for like $73 each. I can't speak on the quality as external drives (broke them open as soon as I opened the box), but as internal drives, they have been rock solid.

I have a 750gig Seagate going on 3 years now never a problem, these backup drives with the bigger cases are fine to use as externals its the slim/passport drives that you should never buy in more than 1 gig capacity they have enclosure issues

I have a thing for slim drives though

I got 9TB's coming in today for HTPC. Might cop this for main rig.
Might cop a couple more tomorrow. They're pretty safe if the slickdeals effect doesn't kick in. They're currently $130 in store. The manager has to do a price match

:whoo: 9tb , using a RAID? what storage did you buy? whats ur setup lookin like

The entire set up or just the drives?

I copped 3 3TB Seagates while they were on sale.

[ame=http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Barracuda-3-5-Inch-Internal-ST3000DM001/dp/B005T3GRLY/]Amazon.com: Seagate Barracuda 7200 3 TB 7200RPM SATA 6 Gb/s NCQ 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive ST3000DM001: Electronics[/ame]

Don't think I'll be doing a RAID. Just going to set up a JBOD array so that I don't have to mess with a gang of drive letters. Not the safest bet but I don't give a fukk. :smugbiden:

Looks like damage control is going on right now. So if you got the email I would say go get yours ASAP.
