Sci Fi vs Medieval vs Present Day Setting For RPG's?

sci fi for me (ideally a cyberpunk setting) but I think present day can give it a run for it's money (I dig the present day settings of games like Persona and Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines)

Medieval usually does nothing for me, but FF16 is really hittin I dig it

It's a matter of personal preference on this one.

I used to prefer fantasy settings in RPGs but in recent years I've started to prefer sci-fi settings which is why Starfield is so interesting to me.

It's either Sci-Fi (I love Cyberpunk settings most.) Or Modern day.

I feel there should be a futuristic option. I've always found urban futuristic setting interesting.

I voted medieval out of my love for witcher 3 but then remembered I love fallout 4, which I guess is sci Fi/punk? OP you need to update the poll with more options. For instance, is Skyrim medieval or fantasy or medieval fantasy? Well I guess witcher 3 would be medieval fantasy too and not just medieval. And what's elden ring/Bloodborne? I know Bloodborne is cosmic horror. Man I'm ranting today. Anyways.

I honestly don’t care as long as its good, my two favorite rpgs from last gen are Divinity Original Sin 2 and Witcher 3.

I would really like to see Larian make something non-Medieval though in the same style

Medieval allows for more variety; orcs, trolls, knights, wizards, witches, demons, dragons etc.
Can integrate magic in the battle system as well

Skyrim, Witcher, Souls/Eleden Ring is all medieval shyt in my mind, stop complicating things breh
