Jay Rock and Q on Interscope, Doechii is on Capitol, SZA and SiR are on RCA, Rashad is on Warner, I don't think anyone else is signed to a major but could be wrong. I'm sure the RCA relationship is going swell since SZA is selling albums like hot cakes, but everything else seems shaky. Maybe Interscope doesn't care since Kendrick's old shyt is outselling most new rappers shyt these days. But you only get so many flops before they start saying no. Jay Rock dropped like 4 videos last year, hasn't gotten an album release date. Those vids looked like they had budgets too. Looks like Q got a budget too. But after years of not doing anything because TDE are idiots, will either of them sell well? I doubt it.

I hope I'm wrong but unless you're a superstar, a 4-5 year wait for an album is going to kill your career.

i saw talking about Q specifically in terms of the machine... but all them other cats got no motion outside of SZA. Rock isn't gonna sell well cause his music only appeals to people who specifically like LA gangsta rap.

None of them other cats got songs with anyone in LA that's buzzin, these dudes don't be outside....it's almost like they exist exclusively online.

Q pretty much turned into a wealthy white dad at this point, hoping that fans will stay loyal and interscope can fire up a promo run is going to be tough.

Looking at the definition for "blue lips" and one definition says "c00n".
I hope that's not what he's gonna be on this time around :francis:

Oh agreed, I was just saying all of them in a rough spot except SZA. And you right about how these dudes just disappear. When you look at the motion Mozzy has whenever he drops, especially across Cali, and compare that to the way TDE operates it's weird as fukk. Why wouldn't you want your artists working with other artists in the city, or working with other artists in general. When is the last time TDE generally felt like a destination label for LA rappers, singers etc? They got studios all around the city too, yet don't drop jack shyt or even focus on signing artists from the city anymore. The Watts Christmas toy drive they do...remember when they were turning that into mini concerts? Had Rihanna in Watts one year lol. That shyt has just been a basic toy drive over the last couple years. They never tried to make it a festival.

And when Q does 50k first week or something Punch gonna come out and blame fans but breh...this is on yall. You can't let an artist's career dry up like this and then say "new album in a month guys, tap in."

Q trying to defend the fact that he doesn't put out albums/music often with the fact he's in the always studio only makes it worse..

While there are a bunch of LA rappers who are real liabilities and that's why they're doing deals with Empire, the rest of these guys almost got straight up ignored by by TDE....

My guess is that they were trying to craft this eclectic-yet street label....or that they just didn't have a real idea about how to acquire the talent in LA for a right fit.

Unless they got a string of hot ones in the chamber and a whole early 2000's promo run set... he's gonna do Jay Rock numbers and wonder what happened.

Breh, Cole got the Dreamville shyt, Tyler's fest got so big he's in fukking Dodger Stadium, no reason TDE couldn't have some crazy festival.

When they were putting out top selling albums, getting grammy noms, doing soundtracks for Disney/Marvel movies, and working with other top artists.

Brehs had Kendrick, SZA, and Q on the same label in LA and never put a festival together. It's insane. I remember when Ib (Dreamville's president) and Cole went to one of the TDE toy drive concerts, and then a couple years later they came out with Dreamville. They peeped the whole scene and then recreated it as a weekend festival.

Maybe that's something Kendrick and Dave Free wanted to do but could never get Top to sign off for, hence another reason they left TDE. Who knows. Somebody had to have the vision for it, it's way too obvious.

Meanwhile, Camp Flog Gnaw is one of the biggest festivals in LA.

TDE definitely dropped the ball in a lot of areas, and this was one of their biggest....cause at the very least all the other NPC's on the label could've at least gotten more eyes on them and maybe carved out some fan bases.

Their top artists don't do interviews (outside of SZA), rarely do features, and effectively don't exist in the LA rap universe outside of the fact that they did sell records and have hits years ago.
