I get that the film has no subtlety about it. Palma hits us over the head with the main themes (mainly The American Dream capitalistic excess) right from the start. Plus, the dialogue is too on the nose.
But the cinematography is amazing, the soundtrack is lit, and let's be honest.... this is where all that film theory pretentiousness goes out the window - Al Pacino as Scarface is simply one of the most iconic, instantly relatable characters of all time. There's a reason he established an incredible cult following
Acting is subjective. You simply can't make up criteria to say Daniel Day Lewis' in My Left Foot, or Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate is a more meaningful then Al Pacino in Scarface
