All Star
I never said it had any kind of masterful writing or anything clever. To me it did what a sequel shouldn't do which is just rehash the same stuff from the first but just amplify it. A comedy works for the comedy but it also works because people end up loving or at least liking these characters so put them in different situations and give them new jokes. Ace Ventura when nature calls may not be the most revered comedy or the most revered comedy sequel, but what it does to is new jokes, new atmosphere, and new characters. It assumes that you like Ace and just want to see him get into some new shyt and only reuses catchphrases. It doesn't repeat the same jokes. There's no scene where he's recreating his scene with the glass plate door, or falling into a tank, or doing another star trek impression, or dealing with another cop who hates him, or getting tossed around at a concert or beating up a mascot. Horrible Bosses 2 at times repeats the same jokes along with the same beats from the first movie
It's one of those sort of comedies where you go in with low expectations and judge it for what it's worth. I like this no more than the first one which isn't very much.
This certainly isn't the first vehicle to recycle stuff that made its previous ventures somewhat endearing.
But that's Hollywood for you.
