I believe most of the ones fired today so far are on the website side of espn.
Best believe that the investors at ESPN have calculated this move. All this does is create an ESPN diaspora of recognizable face for viewers to latch onto on multiple channels/platforms, thus raising the viewership of all the channels.
Fox Sports (which needs to grow to make up for the losses at Fox News), other channels, and internet outlets are about to eat. Hell, with this presidency, I wouldn't be surprised if people like Kraft and other big-wigs want a deregulated league, which allows them to negotiate their own individual media rights.
I know its way out there, but then again, 2017 has taught us expect the unexpected.

I doubt it. They had to do lay offs themselves. They'll probably do some writing for smaller websites or create their own media and use different avenues to spread it out.
