Damn maybe SAS wasn't lying when he said that he wasn't immune from being on the chopping block.
I think the company overall is just moving away from big budget original docs and miniseries.

Disney+ and ESPN+ originals departments are getting smacked with layoffs.

The focus is securing media rights for live sports more than anything.

Disney is learning that important lesson that other media companies are in that streaming services aren't worth the ROI. It hasn't said yet, but I'm guessing they'll probably do as they last time in paying people out the remainder of their contract unless they end up getting another gig.

I still do think that SAS and those other talent are going to be looking at paycut in some form. Awful Announcing really did a story about him and brought up a good point that he's not really gaining any traction outside of the sports world and the character he portrays there.

I didn't realize how bad his podcast was flopping, until they pulled the receipts.

The podcast, “Know Mercy,” is ranked No. 58 on Chartable in “Society and Culture.”

Is 58 flopping?

What are the actual numbers? I just read that entire article and 58th was the only thing mentioned

With SAS supposed starpower, that ranking should be higher than what it is for someone with aspirations outside of the sports world and ESPN's biggest star.

It's ranked #109 now btw.

SAS doesn't have the demographic for a podcast.

Despite his Fox News persona and cringeish things he's said about race, SAS main demo is middle-aged black men. That's who watches First Take just for him, that's who listened to his radio show when it was on.

But middle-aged black men overall aren't checking for a podcast on their phone, or even on youtube

His character just doesn’t work outside of the sports world. They tried once with Greeny in trying to make him bigger outside of ESPN, but it just wasn’t happening.

SAS is bigger than Greeny, but not that crossover star he wants to be.

Good.

ESPN fukked up when they stopped being about sport and started trying to be "culture".

I don't know when Disney bought them, but I'll bet that's when a lot of this bullshyt started.
