This movie was still Lackluster and pathetic. People acting like this was groundbreaking it's not, taxi driver and la Haines did it better. The real problem here is that people thought this was going to be a comic book movie about a villain which is causing such mixed reviews. It would have been better served as a compete standalone. It's a nice change of pace if you have no expectations and completely dissassociate it as a batman/Gotham movie.

After she told him he couldn’t be at her house, there was flashbacks that showed all their date nights and time hanging out were imagined by him.

Yeah the scene when he was on her couch in her house. She didn't know who he was besides seeing him in the elevator. But in the movie they were allegedly lovers but it was his fantasy.
