Furthermore what right @88m3 do you have to pass judgement on the mother of this slain child? The only reason she took the blood money is that there is no support system in place for women to support themselves or their children. She will have a a very difficult time getting a job and if she is granted a divorce (Saudi Law typically gives the husband final say) she will have a hard time getting remarried.

Is that an indictment of the system or me?

If my child was raped and murdered, I would want justice. Not only for myself but everyone in my situation.

It's not really an indictment of you, but she could still fight at least to keep the guy in jail, but if you have children that you are now solely responsible for sometimes you gotta play the short game to keep the lights on and food on the table. Everything is not so black and white.
