ok...
The US is playing global whack a mole and has been since WW2. There is incomitance at every level of every government. It will be ok.
And every hegemon in history has, I didn't say anything to the contrary. Multipolar is an indicator of somewhat equivalent adversarial competition.
Lol, don't think that running NATO takes long term planning? Locking down South East Asia in in China's backyard doesn't take long term planning? The US has been on a 4 year election cycle from the jump. Why would it all of a sudden be a problem.
Both parties prior to Trump had damn near the exact foreign policy. Now when we flip from D to R in the presidential cycle, the world has no idea what to expect from the R's and they blab any populist bullshyt about pulling out of all kinds of agreements, not taking into account that those agreements are stair-stepping the very way of life in the US.
As for divisive issues...
it's a really big country with a lot of people. What do you expect?
There's nothing wrong with disagreeing with issues, it's because people are slowly disengaging from the system. They're not voting, they're not producing economically, we're falling behind in education, we're not procreating, and we're generally breeding a nihilistic environment.
I don't hear anyone in power seriously saying that. If I'm wrong then please show me examples. Taiwan is more than just chip manufacturing, they are strategically located for obvious reasons.
And no politician with a brain would outright say it, but any leader from those APAC countries has to be aware that our ties are primarily economic. Once those ties weaken; not go away; but weaken, their authoritarian neighbors start to observe this and the lack of investment in a standing military capable of independently defending themselves is largely non-existent, skirmishes can initiate.
My point is to say, we can't assume everything is always gonna be money. The West, and by The West I mean the general public is blind to this because we haven't had to think of existential crises for over 80 years. Longer than anyone on this board has been alive.
We shouldn't be naive and always believe things will stay the same. Our immediate threat is our very own incompetence and it's compounded by the disbelief anything serious can happen.
