The problem in this thread is the mixture of racism, misogyny, and corporate stannery

@Eric Brooks sees it.

Some of these cats just don't respect women's wrestling, so they resent women wrestlers believing they have value outside of the "bra & panties" matches Vince conditioned them for.

And

Some of these cats are just WWE stans & c00ns &/or are racist, which is why they continued to support Vince McMahon in spite of the years of his racist, sexist bullshyt :yeshrug:

Then when you call it out, they accuse you of being in love with or being obsessed, when it's really just calling out a company for telling 2 Black women to shut up and know their place :francis:
I just don’t think she’s as good as you guys make her out to be, no one cared about her on WWE TV, ratings have always been the same with or without her and I’d imagine that will continue unless something changes.

But it’s nothing really at all against her or some WWE stan shyt, I don’t know anything about her life outside of TV that I didn’t hear from you stalker weirdos on this board.

Just to add on, I kinda view womens wrestling the same way I view womens basketball

There’s plenty of WNBA players I like and root for. Looks play a part, I can’t front. Skyler Diggins and Liz Cambage are queens. Fine as fukk…

I’ll catch games when they’re on and enjoy it… but that’s where it stops. I’m not invested the same way I am the men’s game. As bad as that may sound, it’s just the reality. The results don’t really matter much to me. A bad Lakers loss might have me sick for a week, tweeting “fire Rob Pelinka” and yelling all about it on social media and message boards..

With.. let’s say the Sparks, I’ll watch and root for them in that moment. Have fun with it.. but a win or loss isn’t necessarily doing anything for me at the end of the day. Regardless of the result, I’ve already moved on before the final bell sounds and that’s nothing against the women athletes. They’re incredible in their own rights and deserve to be on that stage. We’re just not invested like that…

And that’s how a most of us who face the “hate women” allegations genuinely feel when it comes to women’s wrestling. We might joke around and take things overboard because it’s a forum and we’re stupid, but none of us actually have vitriol for any of these women like that. We just.. don’t care that much lol

There’s never been a WNBA game better than a nba game. I’d much rather watch Sasha face anyone than watch Baron Corbin face anyone. Sasha has 100 matches better than Corbin’s best (King of the ring vs Gable)

That’s not true lol

It’s actually quite dismissive. Not every NBA game is some amazing down-to-the wire thriller. There’s plenty of NBA games that were stinkers and didn’t belong on tv, same way there’s plenty of WNBA or women’s college games that were incredible.

It just doesn’t change the fact that I care about the men’s game infinitely more than I do the women’s game

Sasha means more to me than Baron Corbin ever will. Dude sucks.. That still doesn’t change the bigger picture in that most of us will always be more invested in men’s wrestling than we are women’s wrestling

That's fine but many of us would rather watch a Sasha vs. Bayley match than a lot of the men's matches and i am not a huge fan of women's wrestling overall but there are some performers that are very good.. Sasha to me is usually in the best women's matches. A lot of us felt Sasha vs. Bianca was the best match on that card. That's no cap.

The problem is not seeing the other side of it. She sells a lot of merch. Some other women do too. She also does move ratings to a degree. That's not to say she's "missed" because WWE will always be fine but there's proof of her value. There's proof about her segments and how they rate. There's proof about merch etc. That's the conversation that a few posters ran from. They wanted to latch on to "oh u are obsessed" and other deflections because they were wrong and maybe i could have dropped the topic and moved on but that's not generally what i do. Call it a personality flaw if you want :manny:

Also.. Sasha's appeal is not all about her appearance. Yeah she's sexy but most of the women are. Her appeal was that she's actually good at what she does and yes it's nice to see her and Bianca do well.. We want the best for them and Naomi. That's obvious. But Bayley and Asuka are good too. We are also fans of them. Bottom line some of the posters in the thread did come off as women hating and some just seemed to be using cac reddit babble as well. it is what it is..i don't lose sleep over it, i argue on here about a lot of topics

I hear you for sure. Don’t disagree with anything that you said…

Which is why I said both sides of the tug-of-war are going overboard. Pretending Sasha has absolutely no value is silly. Even Ronda, who fukkin sucks in every aspect of sucking, has value and I’d personally rather have Sasha than her any day of the week.

The main point I was making though is that most of us on this forum don’t have the same investment in women’s wrestling as you do. We don’t hate women, despite the overboard jokes which are admittedly inappropriate as fukk. I’m guilty of it too. We like some more than others, care about some more than we care about other male competitors.. but the bottom line of us being more invested in the male side doesn’t change despite that. I respect your stance, it clearly means a lot to you as a fan so you get fired up about it sometimes. Most of us don’t share the same passion about these women though. They are kinda just there on a wrestling program that we watch for a host of other reasons. It is what it is lol

But again, I don’t disagree with anything you said in your post

btw let me make this clear about Sasha if she goes to AEW in any capacity. i believe it'd probably be good for her to be on TV on a nat'l TV show but Tony has never shown that he has a clue about women's wrestling. Don't tag me if she goes there and it doesn't go well because i would not expect it to go well. The deal with New Japan is more intriguing to me than any appearance with AEW unless maybe she's in the ring with Jade or fighting Hayter.

If Sasha goes to AEW and it doesn’t go well, numbers stay flat etc.

That says more about AEW as a brand and people’s reluctance to accept pro wrestling outside of WWE than it is a detriment to her drawing power..

I’m saying that now because the minute she’s on an AEW show that does the usual 900k’ish viewers or has a less than stellar live turnout, you know people will be salivating and immediately go “SEEE! ToLd YOU shE WASn’T a DRAw HAHAHA”

and the flop allegation will follow, as they did with Punk and Bryan

Tony blew it with Bryan and Punk and some others.. Plus he has shown he has no clue about the women and probably doesn't care so yes my thoughts are based more on Tony/AEW as a whole than anything to do with Sasha. i do agree he's maybe gotten better with the booking the last couple weeks but that could be more an aberration than what to expect for the future.

A lot of those talent shouldn't have been hyped up as draws in the first place if we're being honest as casuals will watch and support the product for the most part regardless of the talent on TV.

sasha facing jade would be great but her coming to AEW to win a midcard title and not the main womens title is stupid, that is a match that should be held off for something like double or nothing or all out and it should involve a world title

Bingo. Remember how "desperate" people were for a new promotion since WWE had gotten so stale? Yet when there finally is a new promotion the highest rating they could get was a 1.4 with their debut episode. I think she'll draw for a couple of weeks, and then the curiosity factor will die down and the numbers will go back to being what they were. For all the talk from her fanbase about boycotting the WWE after she walked out, it hasn't shown up in the ratings since Smackdown is averaging higher numbers now than her last month in the company.

WWE has been like that for years, yet you and posters have still watched and sung Vince's praises all these years.Wrestling fans are just as culpable in allowing all the shyt that goes/went on in that company to last as long as it did. I've said many times in this forum that the only reason that company has been able to operate and get away with shyt as much as they is because the mainstream media doesn't care about wrestling like that.

Why else do you think Vince thought he was invincible and going to make it through that investigation?

Don't use Sasha to make the basis of your argument when it's been many people before her over the years making those exact same arguments about the company that people kept turning a blind eye to especially shyt that went on right in your face. Hell, posters in here have been singing HHH's praises and we know for a fact how he operates.
That's not true.

I was openly "No Watch Gang" for years.

I just sorta started keeping up with it again now HHH is in charge, but I've been openly rooting for AEW since it got started SPECIFICALLY because I hate the way WWE treats people and the way they treated the talent during the pandemic was my limit.

Forcing guys to work during a pandemic, releasing talent in mass even though you knew they couldn't work anywhere else, and you're making record profits, while banning 3rd party sponsorships was it for me.

So, no I was not still watching and singing Vince's praises.

I've been saying that nikka needs to go for YEARS and am glad he's gone and hope he never comes back.

I only wish he had been gone sooner.
