Superstar
Haven't watched one since 2020.
What was special about 2020
Haven't watched one since 2020.
I still don't get the expectation of going to an all star game and ejecting high stakes intensity. It's like complaining the really season games aren't play off intensity...... at the end of the day you choosing to pay for the atmosphere and the surrounding circus of that game in particular full well knowing what you SHOULD BE EXPECTING.........
It’s not about high stakes intensity. Back in the days, it was a chance to see players try things they wouldn’t normally do in a regular game like fancy passes and crazy alley oops. The reason why there were so many points is I would guarantee the turnovers in those games were sky high and led to points. Also, it was a chance to see your center attempting to do crossovers or your favorite players go one on one.I will never understand people expecting an intensity for an exhibition game. The all star game was nice to have in the past when you wouldn't have too many chances to see star players on TV. Now you can see them whenever you want on TV.

NOW? All we see are players taking turns jacking up 3s. Some even take half court threes and think that’s supposed to excite us. The All Star game died the year Giannis was going for a dunk and Steph Curry laid flat on his back as to show he wasn’t going to attempt to contest it.
I know I mentioned Steph, but I think the ASG died when Kobe became the old head and barely played. Kobe wanted to win. I think players of the past wanted to win because there was a sense of pride in winning your conference. I can’t forget which interview it was, but Kobe talked about how him and Chris Paul would talk before the games about trying to win and how when they were teammates, they didn’t lose many. These players today don’t even care about that type of tradition. They’re “too cool.”I guess I just became cynical way before everyone else. Non playoff moments don't have value. Blame the media, the Internet don't really matter. So the idea of someone doing an alley or a crossover impressing people in 2024 is low key blowing my mind. If doing it in the regular season doesn't move the needle this is equivalent of Ben Simmons knocking down 3s in the summer.
But again I'm old and have accepted that this is how you are supposed to feel as you get old

I hear what you’re saying, but my question is who’s the blame? The players or the fans? Or maybe another entity like too much money at stake where players don’t want to risk getting hurt (even though I’ve only seen ONE injury in my 30+ years of watching the all star games). I’m just not understanding how it only became wack within the past 10 years or so when the game has existed WAY before we were ever born. There’s something about carrying on tradition that I think is being lost. Like the dunk contest for example. Stars used to compete in it, now they’re too cool. We don’t care if they don’t do something we’ve never seen.I guess what I'm trying to get at is in the current world that we live in, even if you play hard and win you don't improve your standing with fans or media because we have agreed that non playoff moments don't matter.
People keep trying to find the perfect storm of what would make them watch, but it's really ok to not watch. We old, it's not for us. We had fun watching when it was our time and the older generation was calling it trash then too. Everything is how it should be

Worm is starting to turn against the NBA. Haven’t seen this much negativity towards the NBA since Malice in the Palace.
If you lose SAS…..
Been conditioned to understand how things work and not how a feeling makes me think it should........there's few other professions in the world where people walk in off the street trying to tell a professional what they should doWhy shouldn’t fans expect players to care and try hard?
Y’all have been conditioned to accept mediocrity.
The NBA is the only sport where fans think the players Don’t care.Been conditioned to understand how things work and not how a feeling makes me think it should........there's few other professions in the world where people walk in off the street trying to tell a professional what they should do
They were saying the same thing about the NFL pro bowl......... .......I don't expect participants to go out during an exhibition game and go 100 from start to finish........ breh in a previous post said he don't care if somebody get hurt and they shouldn't because they still getting paid....... who the fukk wants to be hurt? Those are the people that are keeping these talking points alive........ why won't you shorten your career and the longevity of your earning potential so I can my ADHD can be momentarily soothed? The All Star game used to be a chance for people with less press to get more visibility.......the game has evolved......be able to see a star for multiple decades is how it should be moving forward.....I hope curry plays 25 plus and with his style he possibly could........the players don't let the machine chew them up and spit them out no more and that's what I'm here forThe NBA is the only sport where fans think the players Don’t care.
