Even if he did break the record there would have been an asterik cause of the 17 game season.

Meh. ED broke a 14-game record in 15 games. He doesn't get an asterisk. Neither would Saquon.

As said in other places, it comes down to attempts, really. And Saquon could have done it on less carries than ED did.

Rest absolutely guarantees something. It guarantees that Lane or Mailata or dikkerson won't get their leg rolled up under in the trenches, that AJ won't make a cut and have his knee buckle (like last year in our final game), that Saquon won't get twisted in a pile and tear something.

If he were 30 or 40 yards away I think they might try for it, but 101 is a different animal. Especially when the Giants are gonna have a mandate from ownership to lose by 100 if they have to, but keep 10 men in that box and do not let him get this record.

Not worth getting tied up in this when we have a team that can legitimately reach the Super Bowl, use the self-manufactured bye and get ready for Green Bay or Washington.

I understand it, but I absolutely think Saquon would have gotten it in about 12-15 carries against a Giants team with no Dexter Lawrence. He put 176 on those boys earlier this year and it could have been a lot worse if he didn't choose to shut it down.

His 2k yard comment, tweet from yesterday but he said this before it became official that they would rest.

“We just wanted to get to 2000. We were fine with that. Better to be safe than sorry.”

If he saying that publicly he most definitely pushing hard against it behind the scenes.

who gives a fukk about the talking points though? the media has been talking negatively about the eagles all season regardless. this uproar about the record has highkey been annoying AF. initially, i wanted the offense out there for at least 2 drives (mostly due to jalen being removed from live play for so long by the time the playoffs start, not for no record), but thinking about it further and that isnt the smart play at all. we had the earliest bye week in the league (week 5) and ran off a 10 game win streak with max effort, these dudes deserve the rest. i much rather us lose wild card weekend and have the media and non eagles fans talk about the record for 4 months straight vs us going for the record and possibly losing a major piece, only to end up losing wild card weekend anyway. the super bowl was the goal with the saquon signing, why change the objective now?
