He's blackballed from Hollywood
Essentially after he sued New Line Studios for the travesty called Blade Trinity aka Blade Tragedy. They tried to sideline him even though he was one of the producers on the movie. The movie flopped compared to the first two movies, then they used Wesley as the fall guy, saying he was difficult to work with. He's always done the same thing on the first two movies, and it wasn't a problem since those movies were successful at the time. So it's hard for him to get steady decent roles now.
He recently just wrote a book and he hopes to make that book series into a movie. It's been getting real good reviews. I read it myself and it was pretty good read. Definitely would like to see it if it saw the light of day as being made into a movie.
