The latest comes from Sarah, a Seahawks fan, who was mercilessly put on a public pedestal thanks to KIRO 7 Seattle, who sent her letter into the internet sphere. They voiced support, but you can practically hear them giggling in the background waiting for the Twitter storm that would be worthy of its own weather report.

Writing letters that lecture on the subject of class, Cam Newton and the American quarterback conundrum has become its own genre — like fantasy or sci-fi, only less believable and more prone to leaps in logic.

The latest comes from Sarah, a Seahawks fan, who was mercilessly put on a public pedestal thanks to KIRO 7 Seattle, who sent her letter into the internet sphere. They voiced support, but you can practically hear them giggling in the background waiting for the Twitter storm that would be worthy of its own weather report.

Sarah's letter is beautiful. A long awaited adaptation of Hawthorne's "Scarlet Letter," wherein Cam Newton wears not an "S" for Superman on his chest, no, but instead, a "C" for classless. Wherein Newton wins playoff games, yes, but loses at life.

Before we break this down, a necessary disclaimer: Let Sarah live. It is her right to post on the Facebook wall of a local news station and have her piece heard. We should not silence the dissenters, or shun the Newton non-believers, but instead, use this opportunity to inform.

So here we go.

Dear Mr. Newton,

Respectful. Ominously so. Only two things can come from a letter that begins with such a noble greeting. Either 1) someone wants a job, or 2) someone wants to undercut your formal title by exposing your informal actions. Sarah could have really got him by ending this with a colon. Then we'd know she means business.

I am a Seahawk fan, I bleed blue and green. Although I will be the first to tell you that today, we did not bring our A game, and were beat fair and square. There is one thing though, one thing that needs to be said. My news feed is filled with you Mr. Newton, and not in a good way.

Before some smartass says, "Well, actually, blood is blue," that isn't true. Stop it. You're spreading lies. Allow Sarah this metaphor for fandom. Also, kudos to Sarah for a brilliant tease. No wonder the local news liked it! You are forced to keep reading because Sarah has provided what we like to call a twist. Newton has made the news ... but it's bad. What does it mean? WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?!?!

A video of you pulling a 12th flag down and throwing it to the ground like garbage. You see the one that people don't realize is, Seahawk fans aren't just fans. The 12th man is a community, a family, that regardless of winning stand behind our team and our community. So you see Cam, disrespecting the 12th man flag isn't just disrespecting our team, it is disrespecting the fans that back our team. A community that feeds and clothes the homeless, a community that raises funds for families in hard times, a community that helps a 3-year-old girl battle cancer, a community that has more grace and respect than you could imagine. You see cam (sic), while you are practicing for your next game, our QB will be at Seattle Children's hospital raising the flag that you shamefully threw to the ground, and he will be placing them on the hospital walls of little 12's.

Wow. Sarah just dropped some fire. Props to the Seahawks fans who have contributed to these charitable efforts. Props to Russell Wilson, who brightens many a child's day. But c'mon, Sarah. Cam loves kids. He doesn't just hand every touchdown ball to a child in the stands; he is, in part, considered a crown prince of the Charlotte community because of his charitable efforts. I understand that tearing down a sign isn't a great look, but neither is misrepresentation. Cam is down with many causes — not just his own.

So Cam, the next time you think of disrespecting our flag, I hope you remember that even though you may have won this game, it is the Seahawks and the 12th man, who are the real winners. Win or lose we come with class, respect, a love for the game, a willingness to help others, love for God, and love for those surrounding us. So Mr. Classless Cam Newton, good luck and may God teach you what real winning looks like. — Sarah

Sarah must have taken a damn class in open-letter writing. After subtly transitioning from "Mr. Newton" to "Cam," she brings it full circle with the dropped hammer that is "Mr. Classless Cam Newton." Shots. Fired. And while Texas A&M fans will cringe at all the trademark infringement going on here with the fanbase name, you have to give Sarah her props. She finishes this beauty with an innovative re-imagining of the classic "I'll pray for you line" — a charter member of the Passive Aggression Hall of Fame.

We'll refrain from picking winners and losers. We'll respect the flag and respect the football player.

But this we know: If you step into Sarah's news feed, may God teach you how to do so in a good way.
