I've said it before. People say shyt like, "GTA needs competition!!!" And then they never even play the games that come out in the genre, regardless if they are 6 to a 9 out of 10. Watch Dogs, Saints, Mafia 3, Sleeping Dogs, etc all come out and either no one plays them, talks about them, rates them highly or they're not quite right. They all just kind of fall through the cracks eventually and then someone like the above has nothing positive to say about the genre as a whole. One big cycle that's been going for 15 YEARS!

1. Game X comes out
2. "This is a GTA Clone!!1!11!!!"
3. Game X does poorly
4. "Why can't we get more sandbox shooters?!?!"
5. Go back to 1.

Because, as I've said 13094581049 times, Rockstar is LIGHT YEARS ahead of these other companies

Everybody PLAYS these games... They turn them on and quickly realize everything that's missing that would be in a GTA, and turn it right the fukk back off. I can tell you the consensus on every game listed.. Watch Dogs 1 was great cause they introduced the hacking stuff.. That's why they got a two... Which was complete bullshyt, repetitive, world boring, no new hacks, and story was bad.. Saints was revered up until 3 were they went super campy, world sucks, nothing new, story was bad, and they went super hero.. Mafia 1-2 was revered, that's why they got a 3.. it was it's own thing, had time change, was in a period nobody was touching, great story... Like the others... 3 came and you did the same 4 missions the entire game, story was far fetched as hell, no time leaps or changes like the others, and we lost all the elements of actual mafia aspects....


It's their own fault. You can't be comp to the Warriors if you the Kings.. You need to be the damn Celtics. They both play basketball but in different ways that has it 2-2 right now. These other games is getting swept by GTA.. GTA is the standard. RDR2 is the standard. Nobody dissing Horizon West or Skyrim or Witcher... But if you coming for a modern open world crime game, you coming directly at GTA, and will be compared to as such

There was a time where you could compete with them, but, companies didn't or took shortcuts.

Saints Row 4 is legit the SAME MAP as Saints Row 3. And tripled down on the silliness while GTA "grew" with GTA IV.

Saints Row 4 was proof that some ideas don't need expanded. It's the same map because it started out as DLC for Saints Row 3, and they just decided to spin it off to a full game. It definitely showed. I've started that game no less than five times, and burn out on it within a couple of hours each time.

Saints Row 3 was a great game pure fukkery and cool characters. I enjoyed the story for what it was and liked Cruising around to "return of the mack"

Saints Row 4 was proof that some ideas don't need expanded. It's the same map because it started out as DLC for Saints Row 3, and they just decided to spin it off to a full game. They didn't "just decide" to spinoff the DLC into Saints Row 4. THQ was going through financial trouble and made them turn the DLC into a game. There is a video out there that shows their original plans for Saints Row 4. It was supposed to be a separate thing.
