Then I saw this:
(facebook/NicolayMusic/posts/10152953253710653) I really have always hated how they are so adamant about espousing how they have "moved on" from Hip Hop. Especially Phonte.
If they "bring it up" it's usually in response to someone on Twitter or in an interview...I haven't seen them adamant about it like you say they are but they've released 6 albums after the first one and you still have fans disliking their videos on Youtube, leaving bad reviews on Itunes and trashing them because they don't do enough Hip-Hop tracks...I would get pissed and start lashing out too (even though I haven't them do this)@Grizzly They have brought it up many times. It's been talked about since before LIAB dropped.
You're taking umbrage with my vocabulary choice. I say it's "adamant" and you don't see it that way. No problem. Being 100% honest, Nicolay has done ~6 Hip Hop albums. I can't fault people for wanting more as is human nature with things that you like. Fans are gonna fan. If that's how they feel, what can you do? I don't agree with their actions but I also don't care either. One thing that no one can deny is that they (as FE only) have not made a better album (total discography included) than Connected and haven't made a better R&B album than Leave It All Behind. If they "bring it up" it's usually in response to someone on Twitter or in an interview...I haven't seen them adamant about it like you say they are but they've released 6 albums after the first one and you still have fans disliking their videos on Youtube, leaving bad reviews on Itunes and trashing them because they don't do enough Hip-Hop tracks...I would get pissed and start lashing out too (even though I haven't them do this)
Got the Japanese 2 CD version of (T)Here and the 2 CD version of The Dutch Masters Vol. 1.
(T)Here's second disc has a majority of the OG's instrumentals and a couple of extra songs and remixes. It also comes with the obi and an interview with Nicolay completely in Japanese. Can't read a lick of it but it's a nice touch as is Japan's tradition when it comes to goods of this nature.
Finally got a copy of The Dutch Masters Vol. 1, 2 disc version. I have been trying to get a hold of this one for a long time. These beats are something else. Especially the tail end of it. On YouTube there are 17 tracks, however on the CD, there are 18. I have been looking at the discogs page for some time and never noticed that that track was present. That last instrumental is a mother f u c k e r. My goodness.
I'm throwing every Nicolay instrumental that I have on the phone. A few more CDs and the Nicolay collection will be complete.
What all do you have and what "beat CD" are you referring to?My collection is pretty complete i think.
Except for that Beat CD i used to have. It was from before Connected i think.

What's it looking like? Do you know anyone who might have a link to that tape?I'm talking about my mp3 collection.
I had a rare beat CD downloaded somewhere in 2008 from Nicolay.
Can't find that nowhere on Soulseek anymore.
It was literally called "Nicolay - Beat CD"
I like Mr. Porter, but there's something... "cheap" about his beats. Oddisee has truly lush production, and I can't think of the last time I heard Tigallo on some really lush production. Strings, bass, natural drums.
Imagine Phonte on this, either singing or rapping.
