PAPERWORK is ultimately what it is for Rae. I no longer believe it's the beat quality (alone).

I saw Rae perform about 6-7 yrs ago...before Cuban Linx 2 dropped and he got 5k to perform. He pulls up in this big Bentley, hops out, does the show and chills for a minute. I chopped it up with him and he's talking about watch for IceH2o. Cool

Fast Forward to now and he's talking about he gotta take care of his family and the paperwork, blah, blah, blah

You can tell Rae ain't about his business like that and probably spent money stupidly, Bentleys and purchasing a bunch of other shyt that depreciates in value instantly when you don't have a successful business is how people GO BROKE and start looking scared and desperate.

He can't go to the studio etc without all his "demands". What is he bringing to the table other than raps?

Is he bringing more to the table than Meth? Rza?

Rza said in the interview he charges 60k for beats and 30k for verses. Off top.

So is Rae saying he commands 50k a verse now because of his value? If that's the case Meth gotta command 100k. How do they expect to make the album? The budget would have to be 5 or more millions to get everyone to the table.

I think Rae doesn't understand business still. He has no track record.

Rae kinda looking like a fool now :patrice:

:comeon:But did you expect it any other way?? RZA always keep it 100 when dealing with his brothers so I knew he was going to set the record straight and put things in their proper perspective .

But anyway pos rep to @Billy Ocean for posting the interview. That shyt was insightful as hell.:whew:

Imagine if RZA was able to get to Rebel INS album before they got "tainted"
:ohhh: shyt makes sense now why Cappadonna was able to pop off before INS, MK and U-God

With the exception of RZA and Meth, the Wu has always been shortsighted and undisciplined when it came to business. I remember them not realizing the value of touring with a group like Rage Against the Machine. They basically fukked off an Arena tour. The only people that showed up to all the dates were RZA and Meth because they realized the value of doing Arena venues where most of their fan base would not be scared to come out to. Even GZA who is a pretty smart guy, didn't start touring consistently until much later.

It was around this time, that RZA democratized decision making within the crew and let everybody make their own decisions. He also let them out of their Wu-Tang Production deals for free.

RZA has carried this guys for quite sometime. The least a nikka like Rae could do is come through for the 20th anniversary and support the Wu.

it has to be the right producers and it has to be a Supreme Clientele type situation where they gave the beats and RZA was allowed to do whatever he wants with them

I don't know about that.

That grantland piece went into detail about that and you're right it was dudes not understanding this shyt. They felt like going to summer jam would take them back to the streets and would rather be there than touring with rage. I understand the sentiment completely but from a business standpoint and brand standpoint never in your life should you choose hot 97 summer jam over worldwide arena shows with one of the most popular rock groups out. Never. And they been paying the price ever since

i got so much respect for rza. dont know if there is anyone i respect more in hip hop. what he created and achieved was unprecedented and set the standard, and even if he couldnt fulfil the dream to the end, he at least tried. for nikkaz to now sit back and throw stones :camby:

for the wu brand to be worth $40 mill back in the day and not doing that shiny suit money and he still let his brothers free here cac labels would have bled them like slaves ungrateful nikkaz is the bane of every ambitious black man.

:damn:

Great interview, thanks ofr the post. RZA talking about he old days and going to shows to see EPMD, BDP, etc was :lawd:, and meeting fellow members at talent competitions.

RZA said Wu tang Produtions was worh 40 to 50 million, and basically everybody :camby:the hell outta there. I guess some arguing is over money over the brand of Wu tang and who owns what? It seems that some of them didt know th business at theat time, butRZA said everybody walked away with millions:yeshrug:

:whoa: I'm a fan of Keep Watch lol

Dope interview. Rza should've let the Wu Elements produce this album tho. You know those dudes would have brought that classic Wu sound. Hell, to be honest, I would even be happy to hear new verses over old Wu beats. Let the brotherhood flip and rip those old cuts up. A true anniversary album demonstrating master swordsmanship.

:ehh:

That would actually be dope. An album with 36 Chamber beats but fresh lyrics.

Just finish watching:whew: Once again, we see why RZA's the Abbot:obama: Jewelz on a hundred, thousand, trillion:lawd: Let go his brothers out their contract, and negroes still unhappy:rudy: My Top 3 Wu MC has always been Ghost, Meth, and Rae:yeshrug: And, that's why you gotta love Meth, for always putting his fam first:myman:, and putting his stardom to the backburner:wow: The success of OB4CL truly went to Rae 'grandeur of delusion' head:ehh: Ain't no Wu fan wants to hear Yeezus, Swizz, DJ Khaled, Pharrell on a Wu-Tang album:pacspit: You want those in-demand producers, put them on your solo album Shallah:lupe:But, how could you when you asking RZA to dial up their phone numbers:huhldup: Anyway, this in-depth interview of Wu triumphs and perils:noah:, was just another confirmation that Nas is the GOAT:ahh: and the Wu as we knew 'em, is officially over:ohlawd: We'll always have the classics to remember the Clan forming like Voltron:blessed:...sadly hears Gladys in the background :Can it be that it was all so simple then:to:

He said Tru Master and 4th Disciple are on the project, didn't mention Bronze though but he then said that when some brothers suggested they bring in outside producers, he said ok cool. that's not a wu tang album but cool let's do it and then they said "well you call the producers" and that was too much for him and I'd agree. If I'm normally the guy who oversees the whole thing and you want me to step back from that, don't then ask me to be the guy to make phone calls to my replacements. He said its weird for him to call Kanye to do a beat for Wu when Kanye calls him for beats
Even though Rosenberg's a fukk nikka, I completely agree with what he says about the Wu album should be Wu producers. I'm a fan of Pharrell and Kanye but I wanna hear Wu production on a Wu album. Wu have a sound that can't be replicated and the last time they got outside production, we ended up with iron flag. Not total garbage but the least wu sounding album of them all. The only producer I'd accept on a Wu album is Alchemist. Just makes straight fire and he is only non-wu producer to come close to do a good job of making Wu-Tang sounding beats. Some of the beats on Masterpiece Theatre by Willie the Kid straight up sound like Wu
