like some said, i walked out thinkin that i liked the movie or at least enjoyed it... until i thought a lil harder about what i actually liked about it.
i wasn't too bothered with the rza's acting b/c i went in expecting he'd be some quiet guy with few words, on some Ryu shyt. I went in expecting a fun throwback kung fu type flick with a hip hop score to it. From the previews, kinda seemed like it was going to be some type of 'tournament' for the big shipment of gold. So what ruined the movie for me was the fight scenes... i could deal with it not being a tournament and instead some crap team up thing, i could maybe deal with the shytty plot... but the fights man... the fights were beyond wack and the final "battles" were TERRIBLE.
You're asking
lookin Russel Crowe to have an extended fight scene with a buncha ninja warrior/assassin types and all he got is a gimmick gun-thing? That's just stupid and the choreography was doomed from the start. The other fight scenes were meh to aight at best.. and the slave scene with rza and his moms was cringe worthy to put it kindly.
Definitely one of the big cinema disappointments for me, because i felt it couldve be the launching pad of something special. Instead.. ehh.
