She basically said that while she appreciates black awards like the BET Awards and NAACP Image Awards, they don't mean shyt in the grand scheme of Hollywood. Only the cac awards (Oscars, BAFTAs) will give you some clout in the industry.

Regina King Says Winning Awards at Black Shows Doesn't Equal Power In a Predominantly White Hollywood

She's right but at the same time I wish she woulda said something to the affect of making black stories for black audiences and not worrying about white approval. But whatever...:francis:
She done said a couple things that were cringey to me

The unfortunate reality is in order for more black stories to be made you need white dollars at the theaters, especially if you want quality black stories and not Tyler Perry Madea shyt.

But that's a completely different point. She wasn't making a point about wanting or chasing white approval over black approval, or that white audiences are better than black ones.

The point was 'white awards raise your value and black awards don't and that's not right.'

I'm all for calling people out when they say suspect shyt, but let's not twist the meaning of something someone said to make it different or worse than what was actually said.
