This was the response from administration.
Does that sound like they're knocking it down?
Having been on the pointy end of the stick while following news/headlines/quotes/official statements from the pentagon, that’s the pentagon’s way of giving a “mind your business” non-answer.
Nobody feels like crunching numbers, defining dozens of acronyms, and explaining infinite points of context to reporters who don’t care and expect a 29 hour answer in a 29 second sound byte. Saying the wrong thing gets spun into a crazy headline. Saying the right thing gets spun into a crazy headline. This is no different than reporters hyping the release of the “Wikileaks” data then making shyt up, when it finally dropped, because no one could make sense of it unless the data involved their profession.
Headlines are clickbait to keep engagement up. This almost exact statement was dropped multiple times throughout 2010 when us, the 327th, and 502nd were officially cut free to put boot to ass, in all directions. Good or bad they put out this statement.
When we were successful or made adjustments into success, the top still put out this statement. We got hit hard, the top put out this statement. We kill or capture whoever hit us hard, the pentagon put out this statement. Almost ten of the most violent provinces suddenly go peaceful, after four months, the pentagon or Obama puts out this statement.
It just means you’re not going to get an answer and are going to have to wait and the results for yourself.
The best possible picture of what’s happening, and happened this summer, will be closer to Halloween than Labor Day. By then they’ll either be in another phase, consolidating (hopefully not).
