I don't think anyone has asked this question in this thread sohh let me be the first. 
How much Russian soil is Ukraine going to take? Is it possible for Ukraine to do what Russia tried to do? Break off Russia's land that borders Ukraine and turn it into a buffer zone?
Give it five years and then that new nation (Ukraine jr.) can apply for NATO...

I'm convinced right now there's a mad scramble behind the scenes. Putin may be nominally in charge but it sounds like one of those situations where you have multiple centers of power.
