Muscovites gonna be really humbled when this war ends.

And to say that this is a strategic disaster for Putin himself is an understatement. He has no choice but to continue the war because ending it could reveal weakness and lead to his assassination.

Finland just doubled NATO's border with Russia and Ukraine's new pitch to join NATO after the war is that it is one of the most battle tested armies in Europe and is more effective with NATO equipment than most other nations within the alliance. And add to that that Russia is become more and more reliant on China, who will always be looking to pay for resources at a discount.

Putin has really fukked Russia's position in the world.

Word..just wait until Putin needs their men for the war.

As it stands most of the Russian soldiers have been from the East and /or poorer regions.

He hasn't been touching St. PETERSBURG or Moscow.:mjpls:

These numbers are from October but I don't believe anything has changed..he really doesn't want the affluent affluent start using their sons.

I wonder what the war is doing to their education. Numbers. I wonder if there is a push for men in college to become officers..used to be college made you exempt but Russia desperately needs officers and NCOs...they lost like a dozen generals ATLEAST.:jbhmm:

In such regions the Russian army is often the sole employer and a tool of social mobility, the monitoring group added.

The recruitment drive has caused a labor shortage in Siberia’s Krasnoyarsk region, which reported the highest share of mobilized reservists nationwide at 5.5%, according to iStories.

Southern Russia’s Sevastopol region reported recruiting 4% of reservists, while the republics of Buryatia and Dagestan, two of Russia's poorest regions that have already suffered the highest death tolls in Ukraine, recruited 3.7% and 2.6% respectively.

By contrast, Moscow and St. Petersburg recruited well below 1% of their reservists, according to iStories and CIT calculations.

Experts attribute the disparity to the authorities’ reluctance to mobilize reservists from more affluent regions to a fear of provoking angry protests.

I just read about the Russian pipe dream of one day taking over "Constantinople " :mjlol:

Was talking to Nap about that last week or so and had google third rome again for a refresher and that has got to be some of the most convoluted and delusional nonsense I've ever read

Ever read into that at all @Rhakim ?

I was watching Real time history on the crimean war. CHECK THE FIRST 5MINS OF THE VIDEO...It's the "EASTERN QUESTION"

Russia saw itself as the protector of all CHRISTIAN in the ottoman empire. That is where the whole taking back CONSTANTINOPLE THING comes from..

Also Turkey will always be BIG HOMIE on the Black Sea because they control the Bosphorus Straits and Russia always gonna be the lil homie.

They can't send in warships because of the treaty signed and because Turkey got better concessions during the treaty for rights over the Bosphorus/Turkish straits.

French didn't and wanted to push CATHOLICISM

Russia was getting worked in a few battles and Tsar ALEXANDER II said "CRIMEA ISN'T RUSSIA" ( :sas2:)

Pentagon LEAKS serious classified docs

The official also pointed out that it was alarming to see one of the documents from February titled “Russia-Ukraine: Battle for the Donbas Region Likely Heading for a Stalemate Throughout 2023.” The document notes the challenges with assessing the “endurance of Ukraine’s operations.”

“Gains for Ukraine will be hard to accomplish, but it does not help to have the private US assessment pointing to a likely yearlong stalemate revealed publicly,” the official said.

Spying on friends

CNN has reviewed 53 leaked documents, all of which appear to have been produced between mid-February and early March.

One document reveals that the US has been spying on Zelensky. That is unsurprising, said the source close to Zelensky, but Ukrainian officials are deeply frustrated about the leak.

The US intelligence report, which is sourced to signals intelligence, says that Zelensky in late February “suggested striking Russian deployment locations in Russia’s Rostov Oblast” using unmanned aerial vehicles, since Ukraine does not have long-range weapons capable of reaching that far
