That’s not entirely true. Germany did declare war against the US. I believe they were already sinking commercial ships that gave aid to Europe. It wasn’t really “optional” at that point after the declaration.

This was before Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, which surprisingly had next to no input from Germany.

I don't think the ships were American flagged though, I would have to read into it more.

Milestones: 1937–1945 - Office of the Historian.

One of my grandfathers was in the navy and his ship was torpedoed and sunk in the Atlantic this was after the US entered the war though /

My understanding is that US Warboats were escorting supplies to the UK. Germany wasn’t having that, which lead to the Declaration.

Kind of parallel to what’s going on here. Except Russia isn’t willing to declare anything just yet.

One could easily make an argument that all of Russia's belligerent actions at home and overseas over the past 20 years has set a clear pattern of behavior that works to the U.S.'s detriment on just about every level.

Sink a ship :hula: Poison an ambassador on foreign soil

What's the fukking difference at the end of the day other than the lack of booms?
The way we find what seems like endless money for military purposes in this country is :wow:.... no words.

It's obscene.

If any of you have used terrain mode (or a relief map), on google maps, to look at each part of the front, what did you see?

What’s the advantage of punching into Luhansk from the west and Donetsk from the northwest?

What are other important features you see?

It looks to me like Ukr is trying to cut off Rus access to the Sea of Azov by enveloping it's Northeastern tip.

Elevation is what stood out the most to me, every time I’ve look at it all. They’ll have a terrain advantage for a little while, especially pushing south east into the flatter coastline.

The land is not flat like East of the river for sure. When you mentioned terrain that was the first thing to jump out at me as well but I wanted to go full retard. There is navigable land in the valleys but your point is still very valid. It will change the way the battles are fought. But when you say elevation specifically, you are referring to Ukr literally having the high ground for the entirety of their push south and east? I didn't consider that. That gives Ukr longer artillery and radar range right? Good observation.
