Russia is fighting a war of aggression against Ukraine a weaker neighbor that Russia has already illegally went to war with, annexed territory from, and meddled in Ukraine's internal affairs since their independence. Russia wasn't even able to invade Ukraine "cleanly" they're actively committing crimes against humanity to the point you couldn't write it off as individual war crimes if you tried. Within the last week Russia even openly bragged about stealing grain and steel from the territories they've invaded and exported to Russia and abroad for sale.
