Because to acknowledge that he's involved in criminal lawsuits would suggest that he is indeed a criminal and untrustworthy and not qualified to be the POTUS.

That's literally what all his handlers are treating this as. One big PR mishap after the other. CEOs do this shyt all the time

- Downplay it so that it gets pushed to the bottom of things to discuss in the various media cycles
