this is complete nonsense
the media was on westbrook's dikk heavy after KD and when russ was still playing well. especially when he was putting up triple double seasons.

in some ways, he was even gassed and the flaws in his game that he's had throughout his career (like his IQ) were continuously downplayed immediately after KD left. this was done in order to make KD's choice to leave him seem worse than it was and to demonize KD further.

if anything, what is happening to russ is what the media does to all of lebron's teammates when lebron isn't winning, in order to avoid giving him any criticism whatsoever. it has literally happened to every teammate he's had, even the HOF ones, like clockwork. they do it to AD too.

its also responsible for the continuous hit job on KD, who's not even his teammate, but who they've had a vendetta against since he "stole" lebron's rings by leveling the playing field in GS against bron's 2nd super team in cleveland.
