Even if that was the case there is no way in hell you couldn't have known about Jay-Z's popularity. Dude was a major celebrity and hip hop's biggest star when Beyonce was still living in Houston with Destiny's Child and was still looked upon as "urban." Dude had major crossover success with "Hard knock life" in 1998 and "Big Pimpin" in 1999/2000. He along with Rocafella ran hip hop from 1998-2003. You have to be trolling.
