Just my opinion. Like someone else said. Defo probably wanted McDonald money. I for one would pay that in a heart beat for him and would have traded Armstead. I'm thinking the Niners just didn't want to give him that pay day. So they traded him.
They have been drafting pretty well at defense, but Defo isn't a player you can get often.
Oh lets not forget that the Niners were planning on giving him 12 mil instead of 14 mil in his fifth year option because of his position change. I KNOW that didn't sit well with him and they probably figured to trade then to go through negotiations later. It's crazy
