"I was living this crazy dual life. One day visiting friends in their prison cells, the next day hanging out with Rick James.
I met him at a party for some new movie. We were at a big club, maybe a thousand people were there, but you’re going to notice Rick James. I didn’t know whether he was a celebrity, a musician, or a gangster. Right around then he had made a lot of money from Hammer sampling him on “U Can’t Touch This,” so Rick was back in business.
Next time I saw him I was in the lobby of a hotel on Sunset Boulevard. I was sitting outside with Ricky Schroder and Alfonso Ribeiro from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, just chilling. Ricky was probably 16 then and Alfonso was maybe 17. But we’re sitting there drinking, and I looked up and I saw a convertible Cornice Rolls-Royce pull up and Rick get out.
He was wearing a loud shirt with a tie, but the tie wasn’t tied and the shirt was unbuttoned. He came over to us, slapped me five, and then he looked at Alfonso. “Aren’t you an actor?” he said and then, boom, he hit him. “Gimme that fukking beer,” he said and grabbed Alfonso’s beer. “Rick, this is a kid, you can’t hit this guy like that,” I protested. He just took that bottle and swigged from it. He didn’t care if the kid had herpes. I’m sure Rick did. “What’s up, nikka?” he said to me."

When he began getting serious with blonde actress Kim Novak a "contract" was allegedly put out on his life and he was threatened, ‘you will lose your other eye’ if you continue seeing her. Before ending his relationship with Novak, Davis had a friend drive him to see her while he hid out in the backseat crunched down to avoid prying eyes.
Before the alleged contract was executed, allegedly Frank Sinatra intervened and saved the day but Davis still feared for his life and married a black showgirl, Loray White. In his autobiography, he stated that he got drunk and married Loray but an old school source informed us, ‘he married Loray out of desperation.’ The marriage lasted a few months before Davis got it annulled. Loray allegedly received a $10,000 settlement and a Cadillac.
Oddly, in 1973, in appreciation for Davis' balanced approach to Satanism in the film "Poor Devil," the "Church Of Satan made Davis an honorary Warlock II. They presented an award to Davis on stage during one of his performances at the Circle Star Theater in San Carlos by Michael Aquino and Karla LaVey.
Old timers consider Novak the love of Davis' life. Months before he died of throat cancer, Altovise (Davis' widow) allowed Novak to visit. She and Sammy spent hours talking and reminiscing. A few weeks later, he died.

in the late 1970’s, a prominent black magazine did a cover story on “Is Someone Trying To Poison Marvin Gaye?” The story offered evidence that someone did try to poison Marvin Gaye. Allegedly, someone put poison in a drink; thankfully, Gaye didn’t consume the drink. Gaye had hinted to his inner circle prior to the incident, that someone was out to get him but nobody paid attention to his allegations. Just as mysteriously as the story appeared, it disappeared and the mainstream media never picked it up. There was never any conclusion to this story and Gaye went on with his career.

Actress Ellen Holly reveals in her book, "One Life, The Autobiography Of An African American Actress," that Eartha Kitt was interviewed on the show, “Real Personal,” in April of 1994. Kitt described a sexual encounter with Harry Belafonte. Immediately afterward, he allegedly warned Kitt ‘not to take their lovemaking too seriously’ on the grounds that his sexual interest was exclusively in white women. He added, “No black woman can do anything for me.”
The interviewer pressed for further details as follows. Interviewer: Belafonte said that to you? Kitt: Yes. It was a slap in my face and therefore, you feel kind of dirty afterwards, you know. According to Tammi Terrell's sister (Ludie), James Brown enticed the impressionable 17-year-old Tammi with lavish gifts and luxuries when she toured with the James Brown Review.
When Tammi's mother and sister visited her in New York. Her suite was beautiful and spacious with a sitting area and bedroom. The space was adorned with an array of flowers that complimented the colors of the decor.
James Brown spoiled Tammi. He even had cosmetologists who took care of all Tammi's needs. She had professional hair weaves, daily facials, manicures and pedicures.
James also bought her many presents which included furs, jewelry and gorgeous ensembles; the next outfit was more beautiful than the last.
Tammi took us shopping and bought us expensive gifts at Saks Fifth Avenue. When we returned, we entered Tammi's room, we saw that James Brown was sleeping in Tammi's bed. He woke up abruptly, greeted us politely and left. Mother seemed awfully worried and confused but Brown's assistant-Gertie assured her that she kept a watchful eye out for Tammi on the road.
A short while later, the brutal beatings started.
