Ummm...Even though "Batman Begins" was a Box-office hit, it was & still probably is a very slept-on movie. IMO, "Batman Begins" didn't start to get appreciated till this past year, with the release of "The Dark Knight Rises".

Sometimes you gotta role the dice bruh, again this assuming that an eventual Justice League movie was long in the cards and priority for the studio. BB grossed $372 million world wide and was universally seen as the redemption for the franchise after the dismal Batman & Robin. The studio should've locked up Nolan right then and there. You've got a respected and praised director who just handed you back a franchise that had been a laughing stock years prior, he could've outlined and shepherded an eventual JL movie in those years and threw in an Easter egg or two in TDK (nothing major, just something to let the fans know)
Marvel did EXACTLY this with Iron Man, Jon Favreau shepherded and sowed the seeds to what eventually became Avengers. NOBODY knew that Iron Man was even going to become the massive hit it turned out to be, but Marvel was smart and had an end game and rolled the dice
