eh...only recently have our draft picks actually became anything more than solid and that's still a question mark with Murray, White, and Walker. We've leaned on the big 3 and Kawhi for so long, that we haven't really had to draft great

This board bashes the Spurs and turns around to pray we don't draft a kid because they know our track record of development.

Literally just posted about this in the Spurs season thread. Out of everyone in this draft he is one of the few that has the Spurs like humbleness and mentality.

One of the software engineers at my job has a brother who is a trainer for the Spurs.
Said Spurs are looking to trade Davis and/or a couple picks if possible to move up to get Hachimura
If that doesn't happen then he said their next target is Cameron Johnson

Unless they get into the top 8 or something and have a chance at Reddish or Hunter...Rui should be THE pick and if they have to trade 19, 29, AND a shooter to get him you do it and you laugh at the teams who let you move up to get him...

Don't forget that Rui under the spurs would be going to the GOAT player development team with the GOAT nba coach and the GOAT shooting coach...probably g league only in year 1 because Derozan plays the three and Lonnie actually put on 20 pounds of muscle so that he can play the three as well this year...
I see him as a young Rudy Gay...to big for guards and wings and to athletic and fast for real bigs...except that Rudy came in and became a chucker and Rui would come in working under gawd tier coaching and player development...
Just like how everybody talk down about the spurs giving up Kawhi to Toronto and Toronto winning a ring...if they get Rui in 3 years everyone will be talking about how much it sucked that the Raptors gave the spurs that 1st round pick cause they were able to package it to move up to get Rui...and you going to be praying he got an uncle that makes life miserable for the spurs and they end up shipping him out to...

I don't think Derrick White is a question mark...put up great per 36 numbers...lead all guards in DPM...spurs were a 50 to 55 win team when he played...flat out won a playoff game against the Nuggets... he did get totally shell shocked when the Nuggets did primarily focus their defense on him in the last 3 games...but it says A LOT that they had to focus their defensive on second year players picked 29th overall in the first place...

Dejountae Murray was all-NBA defense as a 2nd year player, three years removed from HS. Derrick White looks like an above average point guard with all-NBA level D at multiple positions. Guys get better in San Antonio, if they are willing to put in the work.
