I think he was leading in most defensive categories
That’s typically how it works in DPOY voting and accounting for his teams defensive stats. No need to pretend like this a new thing because of Wemby.

Before someone tries to argue otherwise of his surround cast, Rudy was winning DPOY years ago even with shyt defensive talent around him and propping them up.

Wemby a beast but if your team sucks AND your teams defense isnt even above average you’re not going to be dpoy unless you have a historic year AND there aren’t any other great candidates.

They were a below average on defense. You aren't going to win DPOY regardless of how your numbers look.
You should admit how stupid it is that you have an award called defensive PLAYER of the year and then deny that award because of everyone else.
