That’s typically how it works in DPOY voting and accounting for his teams defensive stats. No need to pretend like this a new thing because of Wemby.
Before someone tries to argue otherwise of his surround cast, Rudy was winning DPOY years ago even with shyt defensive talent around him and propping them up.
This wasn't a typical year. And Wemby isn't a typical player.

Wemby a beast but if your team sucks AND your teams defense isnt even above average you’re not going to be dpoy unless you have a historic year AND there aren’t any other great candidates.
They were a below average on defense. You aren't going to win DPOY regardless of how your numbers look.
You should admit how stupid it is that you have an award called defensive PLAYER of the year and then deny that award because of everyone else.
Of course it's stupid, but it's hasn't been a problem in other years so let's not use it in defense of Wemby now.

Raw stats don't always tell a story of a players dominance. If that was the case, then a lot of players in the league would point to their numbers as to why they're worthy.
Why should it be? DPOY is for the regular season and irrelevant to the playoffs.The award has been devalued because of Gobert's wins.
