Huge Royce fan, but this shyt is a big disappointment. Only 5 songs I really like, and the rest are straight up trash. The production on here too weak for the heat dude is spitting.

Death Is Certain still his best album, and a personal classic of mine.

Album is about his best overall produced album tho as far as beats go.

Layers
Dope
Pray
Tabernacle
Hard
Startercoat
Wait
Shine

All fire beats and is like 2/3rds of the album (3/4 if you exclude the skits) and are better than most of the beats on his previous albums, save a few Primo cuts. You sleeping and need to be awoken to death.

What a wasted opportunity. No real substance. He shoulda gone introspective. This coulda been his Come Home With Me.. but nah

:what::comeon: You obviously ain't listening. There's soo many lines across so many songs that shuts your shyt down here.:martin:

I also love how a lot of ya'll would be heads/Royce fans wanna NOW put up how good Death Is Certain was, yet back when it first dropped, the consensus then was similar to how ya'll are half and half-ing this shyt here.

I've never seen anyone front on how dope Death Is Certain is. It mostly got positive reaction from what I can remember. IMO, there is no way in hell this album compares to it. For me, every song on Death Is Certain is good, while most of this shyt is forgettable.

It looked like this album would be a new and improved version of DIC, so that's what made it a huge disappointment, as I know Royce has it in him to create an undeniable classic. Rock City 2.0, Destroy and Rebuild, Death Is Certain, M.I.C., and Bar Exam 1 & 2 are all dope.

yeah Death Is Certain was loved when it came out but it was a very underground record. He was more under the radar than he is now back then and had more to prove. He hasnt been in that zone since that (the next project after that, Independents Day, sounded nothing like that) and never will be again.

i still enjoy a good chunk of his music though. not sure about some of the more talk style tracks on this new one. his flow is extra off on "hard"

Nah, even among heads and reviews back then, it was getting slight and shade. Getting 3.5 level reviews in magazines and websites. and heads on sohh was on the same tip they on this one. "Oh he can spit, but these beats and hooks:camby:" - average sohh poster post regarding DIC upon release. Now all ya'll wanna say it's classick cuz it's cool to do and play the revisionist history role. Oh, "Now I was always a Royce fan, but he's falling off now cuz he getting a bit bigger/more money now":beli:. I was there and I don't forget shyt!:birdman:

Hey breh i was around back then so its not revisionist. Maybe we were just in different circles and reading different shyt. I'm not saying it was getting 5 mic rankings, but hip hop heads especially on the underground always hyped up that record.

More so that Royce fans hyped it up (to which I was one of them doing just that). Otherwise tho, it was still underappreciated at the time, same level as this one is. He rhyming harder on here than on there at that and over better beats ironically as well. It's whatever tho. Some of ya'll damn near think Rick Ross is the 2nd coming of Big n shyt, so I don't take most ya'll fools too seriously on the hip-hop tip. It's just funny to me.

Bro why are you in your feelings because some cats not feeling this new joint? It's not that serious, for me it's a weed plate, other than Tabernacle, Pray, Wait and Layers the rest of that ish is forgettable. A lot of the hooks etc are ass and corny. I'm sick about it because I had big expectations for this album. I'll bump "Street Hop" wayyy more than this joint
