Finally, sum1 speakin da gospel. Every1's head gettin swoll cuz Hibbert shooting over undersized pf's tryin to play c, bosh, birdman haslem. Then they talkin bout em bein a top defensive guy in the playoffs, I never knew Tyson Chandler was an offensive force to be reckoned with.

the fact that both times Haslem got sum solid pt he put up over 15pts shows that hibbert aint nuthin special. N dude gotta quit whining after every gm that this guy plays dirty, then that plays dirty. u a centre, a big man, u gotta get use 2 dis ish.

Hibbert strength defense is much more than guarding Udonis Haslem and Tyson Chandler. Why do you think every perimeter player outside of LeBron is struggling for the Heat. The pacers are able to play incredibly aggressive defense on jumpshooters. Their rotation to shooters has been unbelievable period. They are probably the best defensive team I've seen since the '08 Celtics or at least the 2011 Bulls.
The 2 main reasons for that...
1. George and Stephenson are long and athletic with terrific mental toughness defensively at their age.
2. Hibbert is inside guarding the paint and anchoring their entire D.

I respect George and the whole team has great chemistry on the defensive end, but Hibbert is without doubt the key. Hibbert to their defense is like Westbrook to the Thunder offense. George(or Durant) may get the hype for their individual play and they both deserve it. However, Hibbert (or Westbrook) is what gives the team their identity and makes them what they are.

so looks like most agree with my Gasol choice so let me play devil's advocate a bit.

If u were the pacers would u trade hibbert for gasol straight up. And if they did, would they be 2 wins away from the finals now...would memphis lose to the thunder in the 2nd round

Hell no. Gasol has peaked. Hibbert is still getting better.

Barkley said it worst last night and had a good point he just couldn't get it out all the way. Hibbert is only shining because the Heat are small on the interior and even if he played ok during the other series they weren't hyping up like they are now. If he did this for a whole season it would be contest but Marc Gasol has balled for a few years now and he got a little outside shot and is a great passer for a big. I would scoop him up with the quickness. I'm pretty sure he would be looking this good too if he was in Indy in place of Hibbert. But I take away nothing from Roy, he has come a long way I just want to see him dominate for a season.

i use to think like this, till i watched the Pacers play this yr in the reg season. Hibbert never played heavy mins, he rarely even touched over 35mins. He would get in foul trouble quick n have 5 fouls in less than 30mins. And with him on the bench, the Pacers kept on winning. Their defense still played strong, they still rotated effectively. This shows me it's not as much Hibbert as every1 thinks and its more of, Hill, n paul george are just that good defensively. Look at the struggles of all da heat shooters outside of Lebron, they all hurtin n its not because of Hibbert.

Here's a stat that shows how important Hibbert playing really is to this team this season. Hibbert play 29mins or less in 43 games this season, in those games he played 29mins or less the Pacers were 31 - 12. That would give the Pacers a 72% winning % for the season, 3rd best in NBA only Heat n OKC were higher. The Pacers finished the season with a 60% winnin %, meaning the more Hibbert played, the worst the Pacers are.

click the link and read the 2nd line in italics, states the stats are on a per 48 basis. Which means those are the real stats, as if Hibbert played 48 straight mins he would naturally get tired, and his stats wouldn't be the exact same, thus his effectiveness would lower/drop. Which we saw in the heat series as by the last game, he was reverting to his old self, gettin tired leading to foul trouble, lazy on blocking out and gettin out rebounded.

Hibbert is the exact same player since he was drafted, his scoutin report still is da same, he jus cn't play long mins.

If Marc Gasol had more aggression to his game he'd easily be the best big in the league right now. At the same time, you could probably say the exact same thing about Hibbert, though I think he's more aggressive than Gasol is.
