Its all about the match ups.

I haven't heard a great soulful beat paired against a great trap beat. Its usually one being more polished than the other so you picking for completeness rather than the style itself.

You hit it right on the head. That's why I try to at some point make the rounds more specialized ie trap, soul sample, give every a record to chop etc...
I try to in the early rounds make it freestyle so that everyone doesn't have to work as hard to come with a beat. Basically grab your best shyt out of your stash rounds lol.
But like you said the voting aspect is tough without a select "criteria" cause like you said IMO opinion on "this" board a "Trap" beat has a hard time winning over a GOOD soulful/chop beat. But it DOES happen.Hell like that Cory Todd beat from this round. I don't think anything would beat that :patrice: Normally a SUPERIOR beat should win regardless of what it's sound is based upon.

your beat is so polished.
it would take a worldly emcee to do justice to it.
or in another genre over all the genres.
you can only get sade.
with you filling in for sweetback level of performer.
who just does not exist.
plus sadly may not ever exist, again.

that was the only reason i did not pick your track.
it is definitely air tight audiophile candy.
so keep going.
in review, production like that.
has to just be hated on administratively as to why it is not being used.

you should be doing tv shows and scores.
where the production you score.
needs a culture based take.
while offering versatility.
that make people forget they are listening to a rap producer.

you could do daytime tv scores.
to any commercial score based outlet easy.

Exactly a Superior beat should win, but with people judging it doesn't always work out. That way, a battle in my opinion isn't what a listener particularly "likes" better, I've heard judges say "Oh I make Trap beats, so I'm just going to go with the trap based producer, or I make trap beats so I'm going to go the other way and vice verca, when really a battle isn't always about what "One" likes. If that's a criteria then it's always going to be biased, not saying that that goes on here, but that should never be a criteria. otherwise people will feel as though trap, and other beats won't stand a chance in the long run even if that's not necessarily true, the airwaves are flooded with the sound though. Regardless I'm saying all this as a sample based producer so i'm completely unbiased but, for those who specialize in trap that could be a thought that makes them weary. At the same time the specialize round happening later will effect the matchups if you don't specialize in a genre/trap or soul and it comes down to your final match you will probably feel like ..."Ehh...Well this wasn't meant to be, but if I had my choice all the way through it would have ended better." it's a lot to think about. Again I'm just looking at both sides of the coin.

I voted for the big daddy88 beat.
as both featured a building almost change up.
yet big daddy88 went to the next level that regardless of mixing or variables. I know production like that is the type of production.
that becomes the type of production that singlehandidly propels the worst rapper with the worst record deal to the best place.

it is completely undeniable and he should sell that beat to a major.
just completely jump the unsigned hood rapper and try to sell it to someone with pr and a deal.

big daddy 88's beat is a definitive piece to someone unknown's career.
that is how incredible that beat is.

I don't listen to trap nor do I even know what constitutes a trap beat but I'm hoping to get to the trap round just to try my hand at it.

I try not to let bias come into play unless the battle is fairly even. In that case I'm probably going to lean towards preference.

Everyone here has a different sound though.

I mean am guy that prefers soul samples..i got few soul trap beats and soul jazzy style beats....i try to get good at both and keep it modern at the same time.

Since most of us make beats then the criteria on what is a good beat is a bit different than the average listener. Cant please everyone :yeshrug:

As long as it's an even look then by all means, Bias is unavoidable in many cases; as long as everything gets a fair shake.
