@bigrodthe1 The Track is dope, the reverb seems overdone in this case the track seems very spacious but seems to lack the glue. The Bassline underneath the track droesn't seems in a different room from the rest of the track, the reverb has a lot to do with that. The great thing about the track is the drum fills, I can tell you really put in work on the drum fill of the track.
The kick drum is there, but I can't really hear it, in that regard the kick drum is being jumbled up like the bassline.
The Idea overall is great The sample selection is dope and the track has potential upon correcting the elements mentioned.

@bigdaddy88

The levels are hot- (The volume is extremely loud) the kick drum is competing to get attention in the rest of the track, if you take all the melodies, and turn them all down slightly the drums will sit well in the mix and slap cats in the face. Melodic Wise and trackwise you have everything the trap patterns are on point. With a better mix this can be a banger.

@bigdaddy88 gets my vote

Great battle and good luck to both of you!

I can't really hear the kick coming through in either beat.

I really like the melody in bigpausethe1's beat. Real chill vibe and had the head nod factor I appreciate.

Second beat was too repetitive. The mix being off made it a bit of a difficult listen. The hats and snare were too pronounced. He said in the other thread he didn't have time to really create a beat so I get why this one lacked polish.

I'm surprised at the votes:dahell:

That's what makes voting difficult because everyone has their own criteria and listen for different things. I can say from my vantage point that the mixing was off on both, so that's equal in regards to both beats then where are you going to go to make your decision? You went with the "Feel" some could have went with the technique displayed in the 2nd record or the trap sound ect. That's what makes these battles so difficult to vote on though. If you like that chill soulful vibe would trap ever have a chance against a soulful record in regards to your vote? What would it take?

(Replied to keep the discussion going on this battle thusly promoting it more, maybe others that voted will chime in as well)

Rod took this one, mixing is a lil off on both, but Rod sitll had a more polished creative beat, nice jazzy vibe. Take me back to the earlier tourneys. Both beats are missing that thump tho. I feel like if Big daddy beat had some kicking 808s or something that shyt would snap.

Rod came through with the Streets of Rage 2 beat.

I voted for the big daddy88 beat.
as both featured a building almost change up.
yet big daddy88 went to the next level that regardless of mixing or variables. I know production like that is the type of production.
that becomes the type of production that singlehandidly propels the worst rapper with the worst record deal to the best place.

it is completely undeniable and he should sell that beat to a major.
just completely jump the unsigned hood rapper and try to sell it to someone with pr and a deal.

big daddy 88's beat is a definitive piece to someone unknown's career.
that is how incredible that beat is.

:whoo: toughest battle so far

Big daddy's production was drumma boy esque in regards to keys and would be perfect for some cats like 8 ball and mjg (my tied fav group of all time with camp lo). My only gripe is that the minimal kick took a lil something off of the punch of the beat. Minor mark imo

Bigrod completely crushed the laws sample, completely different flip from Ill Clinton's round 1. I can tell we listen to a lot of the same stuff:obama:.

I see what cats are saying as far as the kick in both beats but it didnt really bother me much, the tracks sound good to me.

Vote goes to Rod, cats may say I'm biased due to the Detroit connect (I've voted against Rod quite a few times past comps:ufdup:), but breh really has been on a nice run lately since he dropped his last tape:whew:

No doubt...and reverse and I got ALL the threads to prove it :martin:

@bigdaddy88 dope shyt as always :salute: even though you tried to pull the okey doke and act like you wasn't bringing heat :martin:
once I saw we both were bracketed up to meet in the loser's bracket I first went :mjcry:
but then I went :mjlit: cause I knew we would put on a show and at least if one of us was going out then it would be with a bang:blessed:

You hit it right on the head. That's why I try to at some point make the rounds more specialized ie trap, soul sample, give every a record to chop etc...
I try to in the early rounds make it freestyle so that everyone doesn't have to work as hard to come with a beat. Basically grab your best shyt out of your stash rounds lol.
But like you said the voting aspect is tough without a select "criteria" cause like you said IMO opinion on "this" board a "Trap" beat has a hard time winning over a GOOD soulful/chop beat. But it DOES happen.Hell like that Cory Todd beat from this round. I don't think anything would beat that :patrice: Normally a SUPERIOR beat should win regardless of what it's sound is based upon.
