We may clown the Red Rifle but he's had a career most NFL players would dream OF having. It would have been nice to have a real qb competition but the Bears brass isn't about to burn their credibility on a bait and switch. That resonates with free agents in the future as well the careers of Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace. Andy might have the tightest of ropes but the Bears are going to go through honoring their part of the deal with Dalton being QB1 on Week 1.

thanks, I have thought about this and believe this is the likely scenario why fields isnt starting

They were 1A and 1B until Trevor had the best possible start to his college career while fields was stuck behind Fromm. Changed the narrative and it was like it didn’t matter what Justin did after that, or even what Trevor did. You had legitimate analyst claiming Trevor could come out his freshman year and be a top 10 QB in the NFL. People were saying he should sit out his final 2 years. That’s how insane the hype is. Trevor really could come out and be by far the worst QB out of the 1st round QB class and they’d still have him ranked no worse than 2.

....he's glad he's putting him in there first as they haven't sorted out the Oline yet. He's basically going to be a crash dummy before they sort it out, and this cat is going to get destroyed and injured by game 5. better him than Fields. by the time Fields gets in......they've brought in some free agents and have coordinated together for a few weeks. Take this pick lightly. Fields is the guy, they're just going to save him until he and the Oline grow. Let Dalton take those blitz hits instead
