Man, I’ve never done a podcast but I’ve done a few interviews and radio interviews for my company and you’re right..... that shyt is harder than most people can anticipate, especially when you’re in an outside environment with so much shyt happening and you gotta plug or get so much info out on the spot

Yes, I don't know if any one else ever took a performance/acting class but adding memorization onto it is even harder. They make promos so hard now that pretty much everyone sucks.

Recording a podcast for say 3 minutes and trying not to leave a bunch of dead air or “uh” “um” etc is a nightmare if you’ve never done it.


Being in front of a live sometimes impatient crowd trying to gauge them/time them/ react to them while following a script sounds like sheer hell.

All facts. As someone who has done some podcasting, the hardest part is always controlling your speech. It's completely different than just speaking with your friends, since you need people to actually make out what you're saying.

And adding having to memorize an in-depth scripted promo makes it harder. The absolute worst thing they've done is go full scripted with promos. It sucks the personality and uniqueness out of everything because learning how to memorize, concisely and accurately recite, and then personalize a script is something that even the most accomplished and successful actors struggle with at times. They need to just give these people bullet points they need to hitz and let them cook. And for those that ate still shytty promos.......get 'em a manager. It's crazy that they have literal decades of their own product that serves as proof that this works best, but still force the fully scripted method.

99% of the marks who critique promos would be stumbling all over themselves if they tried to do it

facts. some of the cringiest shyt is when fans call themselves cutting promos and it's the singing promo bullshyt. Or even worse is some indy wrestler promos at shows.

It's kind of like how everybody thinks they can do stand up comedy or rap.
