Not to put my tin foil hat on too hard right now but, does anyone else find it so strange that Keynesian economics magically became the economic viewpoint of both parties? How did that happen? How did all of the universities just magically adopt Keynesian economics as the main school of economic theory? Why do they treat Austrian economists in such a patronizing way?

Because Austrianism is more or less in the dumpster of history, where it belongs. Neo-Keynesians already absorbed everything worthwhile about it, and the rest was untenable. That's why its only modern exponents are academics ensconced in a select few institutions.
