Because he was one of the well known faces during the golden age of porn here in the US. Also, he was also one of the few dudes who was used to break in a lot of Hollywood rising starlets..he had a lot of friends in the industry. A lot.

I mean.. I guess they got enough evidence against him to make these charges stick. They shouldn't just judge him based off his career choices because then you'd have to judge the women that he allegedly raped as well.
If it turns out that they don't really have sufficient evidence, then they should just let him go.

Admittedly, I didn't read into this case that much.
I repeat, I hope that there's at least one solid, irrefutable piece of evidence. I hope it's not just something like some woman that allowed him to finger her for 10 years in a row at an adult films convention, and then on the 11th year she decides that it's been rape all along.
He does seem sleazy enough to do it, but we can't go on the word of the people against him alone, because then we'd be going on the word of police officers, lawyers, and pornstars. In your lifetime, have you found people from these groups to be trustworthy and always honest?
