This reminds me of that Alonzo Morning conversation when he said Jordan could average 50. It's impossible to have an objective conversation about anything Jordan related. He's a fairytale at this point.

Late to this party...

Can't believe what I'm seeing in this thread.

Bulls win...maybe not sweep but they win with no problem. They only lost when they weren't focused.

Curry...:russ:...he don't have enough weight in his pockets to play those bulls. Ron Harper would shut him down and beat him up. His sole job was to guard the other teams best guard. If it got drastic, they put Pip on a WORTHY guard. On top of that you get a taste of Jordan.

It's not about just scoring your points when you played the bulls. You had to contend with containing Mike too. That left most guards too tired to score their own points. Whoever guarded Mike usually didn't score much.

I can imagine Mike talking shyt to Steph now. Got him posted in the paint looking at him like:jawalrus:. Doubletree coming and Mike STILL spinning from both and either dunking or dropping a dime.

Mike was a intimidating player.

I "love" these old era vs new era threads, because there is always a group of old (ok I am sorry not old but slightly more than mature age ppl) hyping that 90s basketball like every damn player from the 90s is something this new era never had, when in reality basketball continues evolving.
Them bulls never played against a guy like steph curry but yeah sure let's bring the :duck:of stuttering harper shutting him down cause you know 90s were very cool back in the days and everyone was so intimidating while right now everyone is wack and listens to tight jeans gay ass rap music and everytime someone touches the player they get technical foul and get fined for 50k and shyt, thumbs up if you wish you were born in 80s lmao :mjlol:

shyt is like when Zo said MJ would average like 50 points per game when it's physically impossible in today's game and then all these muthafukkas agreeing with him, I swear that MJ media shyt brainwashed some of the people like on some kim jong-un shyt

Actually would be awesome to see this matchup :ehh: pretty damn sure the real winners would be the audience :feedme:

it wouldn't be a sweep. anyone taking that seriously is crazy. they wouldn't sweep the Spurs(2013/2014) or the Heat(2012/2013)

I am a Jordan stan to my core, and I loved those Bulls teams. it would be a great matchup. I could def see Phil using aggressive traps on Steph and forcing Klay, Iggy, or Draymond to beat them. although the bulls could switch everything and still be fine.

and far as the Warriors stopping the Bulls, I don't know that would be able to stop jordan and pippen from getting to the basket. I know Draymond is a good defender, but he ain't stopping those guys

Why would they need to trap? Trapping exists so much today because of the lack of 1-on-1 defenders. They'd pick up Curry from opposite key and ride him down court. Curry struggled with Dellavedova playing him straight up, there'd be none of that soft a$$ switching ish or zones like that of today. Granted, Curry could still get off, but not with the amount of daylight that he has currently. The only other threat from 3 Klay, would be shut down something nice. Harrison isn't ready.

Smallball that the Warriors play isn't anything new. Don Nelson imvented that ish in the 80's, and the Suns ran it in mid-90's with ALL legit shooters. There just weren't any zones or 100 switches giving them room. The one poster asked a good question - what era do they play? I think either benefit Bulls...switching off on MJ? HA

It wouldn't be a sweep butt maybe 4-1.

His whole Bulls career was a fairytale:heh: You'll never see a player like him again.

I also said the MAIN reason was that the Warriors role players didn't take open shots + missed open shots. Yes their physical play (which again I reiterated by saying it was mostly down to them shutting down Curry's options = 'Illegal defense') did play a part in their success. It's not absolute, there were many factors that led to the Cavs taking Games 2 and 3.

By me saying that the physical play of the late 90s wouldn't have as much of an effect as you're making it out to be, is that they experienced similar physical play all throughout last season's playoffs. I never said or insinuated it wouldn't affect their play at all, just that it wouldn't be the same as the Bulls dealing with an elite zone defense and you making it that they wouldn't be able to deal with physical play like the the WCSF and Finals didn't happen.

If the Warriors role players actually hit open shots in those first few games, the Cavs "physical play" would be a footnote in that series.

That's not the point in why i brought up those series. I referenced them purely based on them being physical series = little to no difference between the late 90s playoffs.

You're speaking as if that shyt doesn't go on into today's league.

i) The Bulls wouldn't be able to get away with MORE physical play
ii) The difference between the contact allowed in the 97 playoffs and 15 playoffs is a very slim margin ('15 Finals being just as physical, if not more)
iii) The Cavs still played physical defense, pushing and grabbing in the latter half of that series - you know what the difference was? The Warriors role players actually took and made their open shots. All that physical play didn't stop the Warriors from blowin them out.

What part of the Bulls are significantly better than either the Cavs or Grizz are you not getting? :dahell: It's not just greater physicality, it's also a greater, more experienced, and smarter players and coaches. If the Warriors had dominated the Grizz and Cavs (for the entire series) then we could talk but the fact is the physical play did get to them and then you add Jordan, Pippen, Jackson and a great offense and depth to the mix I just don't see what the Warriors are gonna do with them. To suggest that the days of 81-75 finals wasn't more physical and act as if handchecking wasn't taken out to allow more free movement on the perimeter is just wrong. Back to acting like there wasn't an obvious reason why the Warriors didn't hit those shots, an obvious reason that would still be in play against the Bulls :francis:. You are speaking as if the likes of Phil Jackson and Michael Jordan couldn't figure out a fukkin zone defense like that shyt was just invented last year or something. If you are resolute in all of this stuff I really don't know what to tell you. I have made my point clear multiple times and numerous ways. If you don't have a legit rebuttal (just saying "no it's not" doesn't count as one) I am done. Flat out tell me how the Warriors handle all the stuff the Bulls can throw at them, while taking into account their issues with physicality, experience, and being shook ones. How does their struggles against inferior teams prove anything other than they would struggle even more against a notably better team?

He actually averaged 36 points on 33 shots, that's hardly a mark against the Warriors defense. MJ wouldn't average 41 against the Warriors - they'd double him and help on him on just about every possession. They'd force the role players to beat them. This Warriors squad have a better defense than any team during that 1997 season.

That's right because you're gonna double MJ and leave a team full of players that can actually contribute, open. Leave Ron to double MJ, because Ron couldn't score and never averaged 23ppg and couldn't create his own shot off the dribble, even though he's playing PG. Double off MJ and leave Pippen open. Or leave Luc open and watch him hit that 10' all day. You know that Brian Williams was pretty good, right? He'd be a beast today and he was serviceable then. Even Jason Caffey could hit a jumpshot. The only person you could leave open without worrying about is probably Randy Brown.

Best post of the thread and nobody even acknowledged it:heh:

Is this series being played where you can't touch guys on the perimeter, bump cutters, ect or is it being played under the 90's rules? This current Warriors team could very well get swept playing that '97 Bulls team under those rules. Under the current rules it would be a closer matchup and that '97 team would have to make some minor adjustments in its style of play but they were clearly more talented and genuinely better. This current Warrior team is built for the way that the league has engineered the game. Allowing teams to play more physically on defense against guys on the perimeter would slow all that splash brother shyt down. Especially when talking about the best defensive perimeter/wing duo of all time.

I understand that. What I don't understand is why some of you put so much time and effort and "research" into arguing hypothetical matchups that won't ever happen. None of this shyt will be proven and 90% of the comments have no factual basis yet ppl will act like they are 100% right and it's laughable

Bruh, if this discussion doesn't interest you then there's nothing forcing you to participate. Like, who asked you? Seriously?
