I remember Roger Ebert being seemingly in awe of Hoop Dreams when it came out. He absolutely loved it and would go on to chose it as his best film of the decade

master and commander: the far side of the world

I feel like this is a heavily underrated film…just watched it again…incredible ending…great movie overall…glad I saw this post…was trying to find a thread on it but it’s probably in the arcadium…saw another thread on here where someone said it was among the worst films to receive a best picture nomination which was surprising…seems it underperformed the year it came out and critics had mixed reviews about it…really enjoyed it tho

Nashville is his number one for '75 but got a star and a half?
Personally, I think it is a great movie. Watched it numerous times

What is the purpose of these lists? Because it's missing a whole bunch of all time great films.

Where is Alien 1979? The Thing 1982? No Godfather 2? And so on.

This has to be a broken list or something. No way a critic would miss out on several all time greats.

It says his favorites, then later it says its his top movies list. So which one is it? Cause favorite and top are not the same.
