Count former All-Pro safety Rodney Harrison among the skeptics. In a phone interview last week, the NBC analyst said Kaepernick's indecisiveness and inaccuracy suggest that he's not spending enough time studying his craft.

Harrison said Kaepernick should spend less time "worrying about his six-pack and how he looks" and more time hunkered down in the film room. Harrison, who won two Super Bowl trophies as Tom Brady's teammate with the New England Patriots, hailed Brady as a role model for preparation.

"Tom knew coming out of college that he needed to work on his body, and he did. He'd be in the weight room at 5:30, 6 in the morning," Harrison said. "But then you'd see him spend hours and hours after that watching film. He'd always seek out the defensive backs and pick our brains. 'How did you know to jump that route?' ... 'How did you know that was going to be an out?' "

Harrison said that such dedication to the mental side of the game allows players such as Brady, the Seahawks' Russell Wilson and the Indianapolis Colts' Andrew Luck to make the most of their instincts on game days.

He's not seeing that with Kaepernick.

"Once he comes off his first read, he gets happy feet because he knows he's going to have to go to his second read -- and that there's no way he's going to make it to his third read," Harrison said. "That's when you can force him out of the pocket. Yes, he's dangerous (as a runner) out of the pocket, but he's even less accurate throwing the ball out of the pocket."

Bruce Miller, the 49ers fullback, called Harrison's assessment -- and others like it -- "very outlandish ... off the wall." Miller said that nobody on the team puts in more film-room time than Kaepernick.

"I get here early, and his white car is always in the parking lot. Then I'm getting ready to leave, and it's in the same spot," said Miller, who caught Kaepernick's lone touchdown pass against the Raiders last week. "He's in there every single day working his tail off to study the film. He's working with the coaches on the game plan and making sure he has all the keys and reads down."

Offensive coordinator Greg Roman, in a spirited defense of Kaepernick on Thursday, said: "He's out-dueled a lot of great quarterbacks, right? Do I need to list it? Do I need to make that list? He's had a great career in his short span that he has been a starter."

Kaepernick is 3-0 in his career against Aaron Rodgers, the Green Bay Packers' MVP candidate, with two wins coming in the playoffs. In his only career game against Brady, Kaepernick threw four touchdown passes to lead a 41-34 victory on a freezing December night at Gillette Stadium in 2012.

This nikka Rodney hates everything thats black and athletic.

Holy shyt this nikka really is Ruckus Harrison II.

I always knew he was a fakkit who cheated, tried to end careers, and took steroids. But breh is an awful human being. A disgrace.

even his response is dumb. doubling down on caring about what race the person making the point is rather than caring about the point itself. if you take the transcript of kaeps 20 minute interview the other day, does the context or sentiment of his stance change based on the race of the person saying it?

Bottom line is, Kaeps comments and stance are not only directly benefiting black people, they are also a very principled stance. Kaep being biracial should absolutely not be in the conversation, as it is not a factor at all.

Rodney Harrison is doing some borderline agent shyt, pushing what can be a very divisive issue among black people, trying to dissapate the energy Kaep's stance has brought up.

I hope brehs and brehettes in the Coli and beyond see this for what it is (complete dumbass statement at best, agent provocateur at worst) and don't take the bait! :whoa::whoa::whoa:

I repeat....don't take the bait, brehs and brehettes.:whoa:

Agree 100% Keep the spotlight & focus on what Kaep said which is directly tied to systematic white supremacy

"I tell you this, I'm a black man. And Colin Kaepernick — he's not black," Harrison said. "He can not understand what I face and what other young black men and black people face, or people of color face, on a every single (day) basis. When you walk in a grocery store, and you might have $2,000 or $3,000 in your pocket and you go up in to a Foot Locker and they're looking at you like you about to steal something.

Kaep said from the start this is not about him. And it isn't. If a white player said and did the same thing it would still be true.

Harrison is a clown because this is an opportunity to force dialogue and awareness about systemic racial oppression and police brutality, but he would rather shift the conversation to some jigaboos vs. wannabes shyt on a national stage that does nothing but stir up internal conflict and negative emotion amongst black people and ultimately devolves into a trainwreck of people arguing about how one qualifies blackness, which is a social construct.

He can't or refuses to see the big picture. He's been hating on black players often in a very vitriolic way for a long time now, and he never has anything remotely profound or compelling to say whatsoever. There's a lot to say about this Kaepernick issue. It touches on racism, as well as classism, capitalism, American history, the role of police in a democracy, etc. But his most important takeaway from it is "Kaepernick isn't black." :francis:

This is your brain on CTE. Should've been him that blew his brains out instead of Seau.

I don't pay attention to Rodney Harrison or what he's said in the past so I'm not gonna sit here and pretend like I do. but I'm also not gonna sit here and pretend as though there aren't plenty of people out there who don't feel the same way as Harrison does in regards to colorism in American society or viewing bi-racials as "authentically" black.

And even though the media has created a firestorm around this, this shouldn't be able stop people from having valid conversations about structural racism and widespread inequality. If this does, then you have to question whether people were willing to have it in the first place.

I honestly don't think he's c00ning. I legit think he doesn't know Kaep has a black parent. If you've watched dude during Sunday night it's pretty obvious he ain't the brightest lightbulb. Couple that with his loudmouth impulsive personality and you have someone with a penchant for saying stupid shyt.

Yeah I figured. Rodney ain't a c00n he's just a dumbass.
