Highly doubt it. How interesting is Paige really?
They change "true stories" all the time, breh. It was written (and directed) by Stephen Merchant, and he knows his way around comedy and turned it into a glossy feel-good cinema. I feel this movie might appeal more to people less 'in-the-know' about the business too, because I think most wrestling fans would like something more in-depth about the cutthroat side of the business, and this movie is clearly not that.

The Wrestler took care of the cutthroat side tbh.

Anywho, heard this was a good all around film. And was cool to see some wrestling in the mainstream and big screen

Yeah just watch the real documentary about her which is where The Rock drew inspiration from.

Oh it's called the same as well, "Fighting with my Family."

Has anyone on TSC seent it?
Saw the movie last Friday and it was surprisingly good :obama:. Got to hand it to The Rock for getting the right people to make the film.

If you are NOT a wrestling fan, it’s an easy watch and a nice feel good coming of age story.

If you a smark, there are some parts that will kinda make you roll your eyes if you know her full story but gotta understand that it’s just for the movie.

A group of people in front of me legit said “FOH :pacspit:” when they saw Zelina Vega as AJ Lee :pachaha:. Like they didn’t even BOTHER to make her look like AJ AT ALL.

And the fact they filmed parts of this before a taping of Raw in front of a live crowd was pretty dope too :ehh:even though you can see some of the crowd was like :stopitslime::francis::usure::comeon:

But other then that it was pretty good.

Never knew that a Paige biopic would go down as a critically acclaimed WWE film.

This flick sounds like an updated Billy Elliot/ Full Monty/ Bend It Like Beckham.

Mainstream American has this enduring love for the 'working class Brit comedy/drama', that I never really got.

I guess it plays into the romanticised Hollywood idea of what England is.:ehh:

Thanks I'mma check it out! I'm the only wrestling fan out of anyone I know. Even though I've heard it's a good watch for non fans, I may check it out on my own this week.

It was a good movie. My friend, who doesn’t watch wrestling at all, enjoyed it. She was sad to find out that she had to retire already. If you watch it as a movie, and not going in to dissect the movie for inaccuracies, you’ll be entertained. As a smark, only a couple things bothered me, but not enough for me to knock the movie down.

Finally caught it and I was dying at Zelina Vega's "portrayal" of AJ Lee being a skip-hop and stupid grin. :deadmanny:

It was a very fun movie though, it's definitely more of a British working class comedy than a movie about making it to the WWE. The last twenty minutes or so are pretty much Hollywoodized all the fukk up so anyone even a little familiar with Paige will hardly be able to buy it.

Side-note, kinda surprised they didn't cut that "Sex Tape" joke even if it had nothing to do with Paige in the movie, but then again, I guess you'd have to be a little more familiar with Paige to know about that.
